I've only been once, but I will be going again.
Coincidentally, while I was sat waiting, a friend of mine fb'd me and said, now I was living near Keyport I must try Calabrese's Barber Shop.
I took that as a good omen, and the runes were right.
Only one guy was on; Mitch. But I was very happy. He listened to what I asked for and made it so. Even my wife, my very own Miss America, said it was a good cut, and she's discerning ...
I see that at the time of this review (2016), Calabrese's is closed for renovation.
I shall have no reservation about going back there when they're back on the block.
Three years later... I moved away from Keyport and spent a couple of years looking for a good barber in my new town.
Most barbers are quite happy using clippers and do a pretty good job with them, but it's hard to find someone who can do a great scissor cut.
So eventually I took the half hour drive back to Calabrese's where they actually remembered me. That day was a busy three chair day but it's always an interesting wait.

Read moreI went to the same Italian barber for 35 years of my life. When he passed away I bounced from place to place until I found Calabrese's Barber Shop. My search is over and I couldn't say enough positive about Mitch, Chris and Zach. Will all due respect to anyone who every posts a subpar review, take a look at the span of time for this list of reviews and how almost every single one is 5 star. These guys earn it, every day. One thing is clear, no one can complain about the skill of the guys working at this shop. I challenge anyone to find better. I drive past many shops to get to Calabrese. I hope you don't. I don't want to wait when I go...
Read moreI've been going here for about 18 months now, this is a real barber shop. There are lots of places that can do an ok job of cutting hair, but none compare to Calabrese. From the old school barber shop chairs, straight razor/hot lather shaves and no television, this is a real man's barber shop. Chris gives an expert cut and shave, Ben has over 50 years experience and hasn't missed a beat and Mitch gives a rock solid cut too.
On top of all that, Chris dedicates a lot of time to initiatives that support local businesses and is helping revitalize downtown Keyport into the bustling small town NJ again. There really is, no reason to go...
