Up Front Bait and Tackle — Local services in Keyport

On fluke opening day, halfway to my destination, I called the rental company to confirm my boat rental. They told me that all the boats have been taken when one was supposed to be for me. Totally unexpected and screwed my rod reel and terminal tackle set up was specifically for fishing on a boat. I decided to hit the back bay and stopped by Up Front bait and tackle. I explained the situation to Steve and he immediately picked up his phone called one of his buddies, Artie. Captain of Katie and James fishing charter Steve told Artie there are a couple of guys who have been screwed over by a boat rental company and asked if he is willing to take us out today. He no intention of going out that day but another example of a fine captain I guess he felt for us more importantly since Steve called he accepted and took us out. We ended up catching a 17 1/2 a couple of shorts and brought home a 28 inch striper that day. What was supposed to be shitty day turned out to be a phenomenal day. Once again thank you, Steve and Artie! Just a FYI, if You fish for togs and use green crabs. This is the place to get them. The freshest green crabs...

Haven’t been fishing in a while. But the last time, Steve was the guy who took care of me. So kind and knowledgeable, even told me not to go where I was headed and to change my destination.

He was right, but we had the trip all planned out already.

Fast forward a few years later, some friends got our son into fishing and naturally I recommended Steve.

Man, what a guy. Steve helped all the moms get everything they needed for these boys on day 1. The kids loved it so much, we had a fishing bday party a few weeks later.

You’ll never believe who made a guest appearance to help out that day. STEVE!

This gentleman took time out of his day, to make the afternoon of 16 young boys looking to learn a pass time and sport, one of the most memorable times yet.

How can you not love and support that?!

Go nowhere else. Steve is the only person to help you get there if there’s a pole and...

I never was in this bait store until yesterday...but i was treated like a regular weekly customer.

All I was looking for was some spearing to grab a few snappers and I was told where to find the pier...the bulkhead and the launching dock.

This well stocked outfit has everything you would need and tge store had a very welcoming vibe. (So did the entire town - which I would learn a few minutes later).

There was a sign in the store that said they would appreciate loose change. I guess they have been affected by the coin shortage in addition to the corona virus. If you are looking to cash in some of your loose change...i am sure they would gladly accept.

All in all...old time service from nice people is alive and well in Keyport at Up Front Bait and...
