Up The Creek Tavern: A Disappointing Experience
My recent visit to Up The Creek Tavern left me with a sour taste in my mouth, and not just from the lack of food or drink. Despite the inviting ambiance of the establishment, my friends and I were met with hostility and unnecessary confrontation.
Upon entering the tavern, we were immediately made to feel unwelcome by a lady who appeared to be a staff member. Despite our intentions to simply grab a bite to eat, we overheard her informing the bartender that we "didn't look 21 years old". While it's understandable for establishments to adhere to legal drinking age policies, it's important to note that we weren't planning on imbibing any alcohol – we just wanted to enjoy a late-night meal.
When we politely approached the lady to inquire about being seated for food only, her response was shockingly dismissive and aggressive. She adamantly refused our request, leaving us feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Her demeanor was entirely uncalled for, and it's disheartening that she chose to handle the situation in such a confrontational manner.
Ultimately, we were left with no choice but to hastily vacate the premises, feeling as though we were treated unfairly and without respect. While the tavern may boast a charming atmosphere, the unpleasant encounter we had overshadowed any positive aspects of our visit.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend Up The Creek Tavern based on my recent experience. Hospitality and customer service should be paramount in any establishment, and unfortunately, this was sorely lacking...
Read moreThis is a great place to get a beer, drinks, play some pool and hang out. They have an outdoor deck and an indoor bar. Before Super storm Sandy it was low to the ground. Since this time, the bar was raised a floor and a half off the ground. Problem is right now, a bridge that connects Aberdeen/Cliffwood neighborhood hood and Keyport is being redone. This establishment sits right on the edge of the bridge and the Marina of the Keyport side. Lots of road closed sign keep the bar from being noticed, but it is still accessible if you drive past those signs. Turn off Hwy 35 toward Keyport at The Town Country Diner and travel down to front Street then take a left. Follow down till you can't go forward anymore then turn left into the gravel parking lot. Follow this around to UP THE CREEK and park in gravel parking lot. Note to owner of the establishment: Get a big neon sign that can be seen from Hwy 35. Think the movie...

Heard the food got a lot better due to the new chef. I on the other hand did not have a good experience. They got my only item ( fries ) wrong. Too much to text but needless to say I haven't ordered again, I'm not saying I wont give them another try cause they really spoke highly of the new chef.
Price of draft beer is freaking great! Yingling is only $2.50!!! The cheapest I have ever paid lol. Not sure about the drinks but they look pretty stiff lol. I'm sure its worth the money.
