The Kingman Visitor Centre is located in the old Powerhouse building on Andy Devine Ave. in the historic district. This is a neat place to stop if you are interested in seeing some of the local historic sites in Kingman. Opening hours are 8am to 5pm daily.

The Powerhouse was originally constructed in 1907 and provided power to the local community until 1938 with the completion of the Hoover Dam. Today the building hosts the Kingman Visitor Centre and the Route 66 Museum.

The Visitor Centre is a good place to pick up brochures and learn about local tourism. There is a small gift shop area and an upstairs display area regarding the rise of Kingman and its boom years in the 1950s to 60s, on the back of Route 66 which brought tourism and transportation related business through Kingman.

The Route 66 Museum (US$4 per adult) is located upstairs and provides a colourful walk through American travel out West which came through this area of Arizona. You'll find interesting text, artefacts and displays ranging from the early period of Westward expansion, the Great Depression and the golden years of American automobile tourism along Route 66.

In the end, we enjoyed our time spend in the Kingman Visitor Centre. You can visit everything here conveniently in 30-45 minutes or longer if you are enjoying what is on offer...

The Kingman Visitor Center is a great place to learn about the history of Route 66 and the impact it has had on Kingman and the surrounding area. The center has a variety of exhibits that tell the story of the Mother Road, from its beginnings as a Native American trail to its heyday as a major cross-country highway. The center also has a gift shop that sells a variety of Route 66 souvenirs, and a Tesla Supercharger station for those traveling in electric vehicles.

Located inside the Visitors Center in Kingman the Route 66 Museum has alot to offer in a small area. Photographs and artifacts dating back to the days of the wagon train bring it all home for the curious visitor. There's even an actual Studebaker car in the museum. Also worth your time is a short video presentation on the history of Route 66.

Also worth your time is the Electric Car Museum with several electric cars from the last 100 or so years. Totally geeked out for the car lover!

The gift shop also has a good variety of shirts, bumper stickers and other things to commemorate your visit!

A must...
