Although I only shop at Costco for my clients, my shopping experience here can be overwhelming. This is not a store that I frequently shop, so I have not familiarized myself with all of the isles. I love this store because there is a lot of products I have not seen before or heard of. I also love that this store carries so much organic items. That's a huge plus. What I can't seem to understand is when you ask an employee for help finding an item, it is as if I am truly bothering them in a negative way. I have not had one single employee stop, tell me exactly where an item is located (even in the department that they work in), or take the time to show me! This is horrible customer service. I have visited on several occasions. All I get is a "pointing finger" and the exact same response, "over there in that area!" No one has ever left their post to assist. I guess I am used to shopping at Super One Foods and Albertson's! Those employees at any store will stop and help you. They always show great customer service. I was at Costco today, not once, but twice, for my clients of course, and guess what, I needed help finding an item on both trips and I ended up just helping myself because the pointing finger does not work for me. One item I was not able to find for my client and after spending so much time looking, I gave up and offered my client a refund. This means my client lost by not getting all of her groceries and Costco lost not only the money I did not spend but they also lost a potential customer (Me). It is wonderful that there is am employee in every department, I visibly noticed. It would be fantastic if they would move around a bit. I went to the deli to have some sandwich meat sliced. When I arrived at the deli counter there were three ladies working. We all locked eyes but for some reason no one acknowledged me. I gave it a minute, they are probably having an important conversation that could not wait. So then I said, "excuse me ladies..." One of the ladies said, "Wait let me go call somebody!" Moving right along, I proceeded to the check out lanes with only six items, three were cases of drinks. The cashiers were moving so fast. I understand they are attempting to keep the lines moving; however, two employees should NOT MISCOUNT SIX ITEMS AND OVERCHARGE 19.xx.. Long story short, customer service did not refund the money back to my client's credit card!!! The manager said to give me a GIFT CARD!!!!! I HAD NOT LEFT THE STORE AND I WAS NOT ATTEMPTING TO RETURN ANYTHING!! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO EXPLAIN TO MY CLIENTS THAT HEY, "You were overcharged but here is a gift card even though you are on a fixed income and you only wanted to spend X-amount of dollars today!" On my second trip for a different client I went into the produce section and could not find the large plums. I asked the employee for help and he told me, well pointed, "right over there!" So I go check again and still missed it. I ask him again and told him I didn't see it... He then says, "Over there in that box!" I understood it well, go treasure hunting because they are not allowed to show you around. I guess. I mean, what else could it be? I'll wait for...
Read moreAttention anyone that shops in-store with the person they have given their secondary membership card to (husband, parent, child, etc): if your membership card is scanned at self check-out, you MUST be the one paying with your own personal card. If not, (e.g. you and your husband share the same Costco account, you scan your copy of the membership card but he pays) and the attendant notices, they will void your transaction and make you start all over again using that personâs issue of the membership card. Yes, even if it is from the same account.
I unfortunately found this out today while shopping with my mother for last-minute items for our family Easter party. I scanned my membership card at check out and the attendant came over to scan our larger items. I told the attendant, âOh, the case of beer is my motherâs,â and beckoned for my mom to take out her ID so she can scan it if need be.
The employee then stopped our transaction and asked whose membership we were using. I replied that it is my membership but my mother carries the second card associated with my account. She then weirdly caught an attitude with us and told us that since the beer is my motherâs, that my mother will be paying for the transaction and that we will have to start all over again after my mom scans her own issue of the card. My mother asked, âEven if our cards are from the same account?â And the attendant cut her off and snapped back, âYES, even if the cards are from the same account, because the cards have different ending numbers!â
Had the attendant not been so eager to void our transaction, she would have noticed that I had already taken out my own ID for her to scan for the beer so we wouldnât have to start the check-out process over. (I had already planned on paying for all of my familyâs Easter groceries at the end anyway⌠So yes, my membership, my card, my money.)
I understand that since I said the beer was my motherâs, that she would have to be the one to purchase it. I also understand that it has been a busy holiday weekend and that she was probably having a stressful shift. But the attitude towards us was misplaced and voiding our transaction just to scan another card that is linked to the same account and having to start over was an overreaction. I thanked the attendant anyway as we were leaving but our interaction left a bad taste...
Read moreIf I am not reached out to in some way I will be contacting corporate Hello, I'm a new costco member and I really wish I could have my money back when I cancel the membership here! Or I would have done it the same day I made the huge mistake of joining! I want to say first off this is one of the most worst establishments I have ever spent my money on to shop at! I decided to give this place a week later after the first incident! First and foremost when we signed up we were pressured to get the credit card after multiple times of telling this associate we were not interested at all, second it was not disclosed to us that costco only takes visa! Or your citi credit card whatever I got past that, we were chased down by the door to show them our costco card after we just joined no problem didn't know but was rudly told if we didn't want this kind of embarrassment again show the card! Whatever! Got it and as I told the door security we didn't know. But today! Today I went back there to give this place a second chance being I spent money to become a member here, must have been an off day, me and my significant other go inside do our shopping and go to the self check out where this lady insisted to know if we were going to be doing separate purchases, now I was paying two different ways but I don't think that is anyone buisness, proceeds to tell me we can't do separate check outs and that the guest policy is changing and people won't be able to do that anymore! I said ma'am I am doing two separate transactions and she proceeds to ask me for both of our cards or we would not be permitted to check out! WHAT? I did not know it was cost of business or anyone else that I have to use two separate cards to buy my groceries. She was very rude to us grabbed my card out of my hand and held the card up to see if it looked like me! Scanned it for me and dropped it on the self check out! What the hell kind of place are you guys running! I have literally signed up for a year only a week ago and I feel so uncomfortable shopping there its not even funny! I would really like to cancel my membership and get...
