REI — Local services in Laguna Hills

Went here on the Saturday Grand Opening (9/16/23) and was expecting a pretty small store based on the center. They had a pretty big section in the parking lot with vendors giving out swag along with the free Co-Op gear from REI (we didn't wait in line, but I would have loved that Co-Op hat 😁. Walking in the store, it's massive! Much larger than Tustin. The Bike section was a bit sparse, but likely due to the upcoming winter sports swap. I didn't see any paddle sports which was a bummer...but WHY such a massive section dedicated to climbing shoes? Clothing sections were great and this REI had one of the best camping equipment areas I've seen. Spotted some Xmas gifts for the family. Hopefully they won't pack this place with too much merch...it's nice how open it is. Also, hopefully they can sustain this building...center is kinda dead, especially with the ever-long "5 Lagunas" mall that has been a construction site for 10 years now. I still remember the El Paseo REI in Mission Viejo that was there just a few years and vanished. I have high hopes...

Outstanding Experience at the REI Bike Department!

I just wanted to share how impressed we were with the service at REI, especially from Lisa and Miguel in the Bike Department. They went above and beyond to make sure my 7-year-old daughter was completely comfortable and confident with her new purple 20” REV bike and helmet.

Lisa took the time to measure my daughter precisely and ensured everything fit just right. She was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and professional throughout the entire process. Miguel was also fantastic—his attention to detail during setup and tuning made us feel like we were in expert hands.

They both made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel easy, fun, and memorable for our daughter. She left the store smiling ear to ear, and we left knowing we had made the right choice shopping at REI.

BUYER BEWARE this place iS VERY DISHONEST. I purchased what I was told was an item that was never returned before and was an item that was never picked up from an online order. I took it home and there were a ton of pieces missing and the envelope inside was ripped open. I came back the next day to return it and the manager screamed in my face and the store helpers face saying where's the keys ask for the keys in which I never received. I kept getting yelled at by the manager who was demanding keys that I never received with the item. this was my reason for the return was because I did not receive all of the parts. I am in shock and cannot believe how unprofessional the management acted. I won't be back and do...
