Boat Launch - Disneys Port Orleans Resort - Riverside — Local services in Lake Buena Vista

While staying at Port Orleans Riverside Resort last week, I had a rude interaction with one of the cast members working the ferry... which ultimately turned me off from what would have been a fun experience.

We were interested in taking the ferry to go to Disney Springs. The Disney My Experience app indicated that it would be a 55-minute trip using the ferry. Having a 5-year-old with special needs, we knew she wouldn't make it through a 55-minute ride. I decided to go down to the dock to ask, since it seemed like a long ride for a such a short distance.

I asked the gentleman at the dock how long of a ride it would be to Disney Springs. He responded "55 minutes round trip." I clarified and asked, "so just under 30 minutes one way?" He huffed and responded again "55 minutes round trip." I asked again, "does that mean less than 30 minutes one way?" He was about to say "55 minutes round trip" but stopped himself, eye rolled, and said, "yes, under 30 minutes."

"55 minutes round trip" can mean many things. It could indicate the duration without any stops. It could mean 55 minutes including a 15-minute stop while at Disney Springs. I asked a specific question about the amount of time for a one-way trip. Instead, he decided to give me an attitude in front of other guests.

I wish I took note of this gentleman's name. He was an older gentleman with white hair and white beard. My interaction with him was unlike every other interaction I had with cast members during our time at Disney World. Because of this rude experience, my wife and I decided to drive to Disney...

This is the only time we've stayed on grounds at Disney. We had a great time here but, I wouldn't stay at this resort again. The pool, cafeteria, gift shop, service were all great. It's a huge resort so be prepared for lengthy walks but, it is a lovely place. I was just disappointed in the beds and lack of microwaves in rooms. Our mattresses were truly horrible. We're used to a high quality mattress at home so I expect less comfort when we're away. In my opinion, these were the worst beds we've had in any...

The ferry to Disney Springs was so beneficial and peaceful. My family loved it when we stayed at Riverside. The trip doesn't take that long and the scenery you get to enjoy along the way is great. there's ample opportunity to take pictures. There are several ferries on the go at once so the wait at the dock is never that long. The cast members running the ferries have always been very friendly.
