Belk — Local services in Lake City

Good customer service and quick lines. This store actually has real employees on clock to help you with your holiday shopping. If you want to avoid waiting in line 2 hours just to get up to a machine that will malfunction during your check out process, shop here. I cannot Express the gratitude I have towards this company for correctly staffing its stores throughout the holiday season. It takes strain off of us as the consumer and off of their employees as hard working American men and women. Unlike other big box stores, they aren't throwing one poor employee to the wolves and telling them to survive with their self check out machines. Thank you belk for taking care of your employees first and foremost. This does not happen anymore and I support any business that supports its workers. Supported workers mean good workers. This Belk's in particular is like a very budget version of Belk. They have a very slim collection of products, almost everything is on clearance because it's all the slim collection of items that no one wants, the employees are commanded by corporate to pester you with "Welcome to Belk" and "can I help you" (And if they aren't doing that, then they like to stare at customers as they pass by) which creates an environment that convinces me that the mall format is dead until I go to an actual mall Belk that has the space and traffic to maintain a store. This Belk's? It's a zombie. I have only seen this store's product selection shrink and shrink. Used to be able to find many cute pajamas and bedroom shoes here. Now there is only 1 rack of night gowns and like 6 places where bedroom shoes should go but only 1 actual pair of bedroom shoes hasn't been sold and the only things left other than that are flimsy and thin...

This store has really made a total change from how it was 12-18 months ago. The inside of the store is really clean, organized, open and airy with great lighting now and the staff are all friendly and inviting and are actually very helpful and are willing to help in any department...wether it is their "usual" department or not. The racks and shelves of clothes are so much more organized both on the racks and the shelves. I do agree with a cpl of other reviews that I saw...there tends to be more of the small/extra small sizes of things than there are of med, lg and extra lg but other than that, the selection is a lot better than it was a year ago. This store has really come a long way and I am so glad that it has stayed open and serving...
