We love this beautiful park. Beautiful large Covered picnic area withat least 6 picnic tables and restrooms and a fire pit brick wall with chairs to sit.Around, and enjoy either from the inside sitting area or you can sit on the outside and enjoy it as well. I believe there is two water fountains. There's also a spigot to turn on if your dog needs water, or if you feel like making a little puddle for the ducks. There is duck poop everywhere.. But there is also beautiful friendly ducks everywhere. The kids love chasing them. ( sorry ducks). The playground area has 2 large separate climbing structures and a few benches for parents to sit and watch. The parking lot aligns with the playground in a manner where you can pull up, And if you have older children, you can sit in your front seat and have a perfect view of them on the playground within about 25-30 feet. There is a ginormous beautiful lake with a at least one mile.. I think it might be a mile and a half.. So beautiful wooden walkway that starts from the park and goes around the entire lake and back to the park. Take about 30 minutes to walk the whole thing. Heads up... if you take that walk with little kids, be prepared to finish it...or have a stroller. Make sure to bring water and snacks. My 4yr old walked with me and halfway through was tired from the play ground and wanted me to carry him the rest of the way, which I couldn't. Also he was hot and thirsty and got whiny because I left all the water and snacks at the picnic area. You can also walk about 1/4 of the way to the beautiful fountain and turn around and walk back to the park area rather than walk the entire few miles of boardwalk... some kids like to run the whole thing... which thank goodness it is secure and blocked safely, given they don't decide to climb over the side, there is no open areas to fall. There is benches about every quarter of a mile. It felt like a long hike for me and once was enough lol... but walkers will love it. Just make sure to bring water and you diaper bag or any necessities. Behind the playground is a long beautiful river swamp, where the grass declines down and you'll need to watch your kids if they get beyond that point to make sure they stay out of the water but it's far enough away from the playground for my comfort. But the view is stunning, the swampy trees Beautiful place to relax if you can walk back up the hill well. Definitely a must visit. Usually always some kids there to play! And yes everyone walks their dogs here, I think they have the post with the bags...
Read moreWe were just visiting Lake City, but this was a really nice park to get some energy out at. The playground is a good size, the boardwalk is neat, and there is plenty of space to walk around.
We went first on a Saturday, and it was pretty busy! Went again on a Tuesday, and there was only one other person fishing.
4 stars because we were told we couldn't bike around the boardwalk. I understand maybe around the wooden part, but even the sidewalks are supposedly off limits. We had even checked prior for any signs with rules regarding bikes-- there isn't one! We were...
Read moreWe had a picnic. Russell had just washed everything. We had towels to sit on and a table cloth. Russell was very accommodating. He allowed us to turn fans off and enjoy ourselves. We had a very pleasant time. 2 girls came with a dog off the leash and I told them it should be on leash so no one would get hurt. They obeyed but acted like they were offended. Be sure and have big signs telling owners to have animals on leashes. Thank you for a...
