First of all, the customer service is NON EXISTENT! I’ve emailed on several occasions with complaints of damaged (pierced, sliced, bruised beyond use) and moldy produce the day of receipt and have never received a response. Practice with very long shelf lives - like onions and potatoes- go bad within days of receiving. It’s summer and I’m getting green oranges! It’s100+ degrees outside, and there’s no ice pack or dry ice or any other way of keeping box contents cold, so things like lettuces are spoiled/ limp before they’re even unpacked. Right now is prime peach time, but boxes included peaches way too early in the season, so they were flavorless and mealy. Choices are VERY limited- so here’s how it works: there’s a set box content each week. You are allowed to customize, but are SO limited it’s ridiculous! There are limits to each type of produce, most of which the limit is 1, so if there are 5 things you don’t like that week, your stuck with most of them, there’s usually one, if any, item not automatically included, and usually only 2 items have a max quantity of 2 (never more than 2), others are max quantity of 1. Side weeks, of the maybe 7-8 different items, 4 of them are leafy greens (spinach, kale, mustard greens, and a $2 head of baby butter lettuce, for example). I would’ve assumed with a name like farm to fork Colorado, the produce would be local but I highly doubt this to be the case (do we grow pineapple in CO?). A small box runs around $27, for MAYBE $18 worth of produce, and at least 1/4-1/2 is inedible. Especially in the time of Covid, and being VERY high risk, I really depended on this to to help limit my visits to the store and make life easier, I had no problem posting a little more than market value for the convenience, but ultimately it have been a very, VERY expensive frustration. Disappointed isn’t even...
Read moreI've now had 3-4 deliveries from Farm to Fork CO, and I am so so happy with my decision! We get the organic fruit and veg box; we started with the small size and liked it so much that we just switched to the regular size. I love being able to support local farmers and business owners, and that it makes it so easy to get fresh produce. As a vegan, I eat a lot of fresh produce, but with the COVID epidemic I have been trying to go to the store less often, so it felt like a great time to try out produce delivery.
The produce has been really high quality so far, and we've only had one or two instances where we got substitutions, which is totally fine in my book. I do think it might be nice to be able to add preferences to my account; I am open to pretty much all fruits and veggies, but I am allergic to one veg. So far, I haven't run into that being a problem, and I could always just pass on that veg on to friends/family, but something to consider. I also really appreciate that I can just save the box each week and they will pick up last week's box when they deliver our produce!
Before starting, I noticed reviews complaining that not all the produce was local. I wasn't surprised by that (obviously bananas and mangos don't grow locally), and I agree with Farm to Fork's reasoning for having some produce brought in from others--it's definitely way easier to just get all my necessities in our box, with most being local but not all. I do think it could be helpful for people if they listed each produce as local or not, so that for people who exclusively want local, they can easily see which to choose.
I'm so glad we joined and I don't plan on stopping our deliveries any time soon, even after COVID...
Read moreI LOVE Farm to Fork! I was getting really tired of grocery store-bought produce going bad the day after I brought it home - so frustrating and a massive waste of money (and food!). I thought it might help to try local, where produce isn't stuck on a truck for extended periods of time, and Farm to Fork is where I happily landed. Excellent quality, it is so easy to pick what I want in my box, and delivery is always on time.
Every box has been awesome! The quality is fantastic, everything tastes really good, with the added bonus that it feels good knowing I am helping support a local company and local farmers. I actually really enjoy receiving my spinach with some loose dirt on it - that's real life, I like connecting with my food, and I appreciate knowing that it wasn't treated with a chemical bath before I ate it. Also, the $5 local eggs are delicious and the yolks are beautiful. I am super happy with Farm to Fork's quality, all around!
It's funny reading some of these reviews criticizing the company for delivering produce not 100% ripe yet; frankly, on a weekly box of goodies, I'd rather it be that way so I can stage out what I am cooking/eating for the week without worrying that product will go bad if I don't consume it right away.
My only gripe: They have way too many delicious add-ons for boxes (and at very reasonable prices), and I end up going a little crazy with it sometimes. But c'mon, local honey? Local tea? Snacks? How could I say no!
Thank you to the whole Farm to Fork team. I love your mission and am so happy to have found quality local produce for my family....
