My friends and I had the worst interaction we’ve had at this store with the owner. She was extremely rude, accusatory and blatantly lost any kind of business from myself or my friends in the future. We were visiting from out of state and decided to stop by the shop. We found a few post cards with different names on them and words to describe what the names mean. My friend was so excited to find her name and also felt the postcard described her perfectly. She decided to send a picture of the card to her grandmother to share her excitement before she bought the post card. Out of nowhere, the owner (very very rudely) told us that we were stealing and kept repeating that taking pictures is stealing. Mind you, we saw no sign saying taking pictures aren’t allowed. My friend who lives in town tried to calmly explain that we are from out of town and didn’t realize, but she ignored his comment and told us to buy the post card or we were considered to be stealing it. Embarrassed and upset, my friend mentioned she was sorry and said she would delete the picture. The owner then rolled her eyes and said she knew the photo could be recovered. At that moment, myself and all of my friends left rather than spending money somewhere where we were accused of being thieves. There is a way to explain your rules, and I recommend the owner find a more reasonable and less rude way to...
Read morei really hate leaving any sort of negative reviews, i try not to do it as much as possible, but i regret to say I didn't have a good interaction with the host in the shop. I came in wanting to buy something for my partner's birthday coming up, and she was wonderful and very helpful at first, but then ended up being a bit rude and accusatory.I was looking at a print she recommended for a present, and i really liked it but i didn't know if it was in my budget. so i held onto the gift to try to decide and my sister texted me so i pulled my phone out to text her back. she unexpectedly scolded at me that theres no taking pictures allowed in quite a hostile way. I clarified that i was texting my sister, and 1000% understand where she is coming from- we value artist's work, especially individual/local ones! Only writing this review because the rest of the interaction felt weirdly hostile and i felt unfairly accused and uncomfortable. She continued. to verbalize her suspicion and became unfriendly. honestly, that ended up being the reason why i didn't want to give my money. again, if the owner's reading this, this is not an angry message, just a transparent one. There was a way to talk to someone explaining your rules but your way was not it- I'm sorry that other customers have acted in certain ways lead you to react in such a reactionary and hostile way...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful Irish gift shop in Chicago. The reason being that I will be volunteering in Ireland soon and wanted to get a little immersed in what the culture is like. I was welcomed by the owner Cecilia and we had a pretty long chat which I enjoyed very much learning about Ireland a little bit. The items in the shop were wonderful and they even sold Irish food items! She recommended these beautiful Celtic soft cozy gloves with finger touch sensors which were perfect for my upcoming trip and approved of my choice of dinner at the Irish pub down the block(Irish stew which was OMG amazing by the way!) I'll be back soon to catch up with...
