Last night, we embarked on a culinary journey right here in the heart of Ravenswood! Our destination? XOchimilco Mexican Restaurant, where authenticity meets innovation, taking us straight to the heart of Mexico without ever leaving our beloved Chicago!
The meats were beyond exceptional. Each bite was a testament to their skill and dedication - tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. We're talking melt-in-your-mouth, make-you-close-your-eyes kind of good. XOchimilco has truly mastered the art of keeping meats moist and tender, a feat that is not easily accomplished.
But the true star of the evening was the flavor. The complexity and boldness of the flavors at XOchimilco transported us to the bustling streets of Mexico City. Each bite was an explosion of taste, a rich tapestry of tradition and boldness, a dance of sweet, salty, spicy, and savory that had us reaching for more.
We opted for the "Surf and Turf" special and oh boy, did it deliver! It's a winner in my books - a sublime blend of sea and land, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. It's the type of dish that's not only good to the last bite but also keeps you talking about it long after your meal.
The atmosphere at XOchimilco was just as inviting as the food. Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Ravenswood, it's the perfect place to enjoy a lovely afternoon or evening. Bring some friends, share some laughs, create some memories. And if you're in the mood for a little tipple, don't forget to bring your favorite bottle of booze to complement the meal.
So here's my advice: Don't walk, RUN to XOchimilco Mexican Restaurant. It's not just a meal, it's an experience, one that will leave you yearning for more. Bon appétit!

Read moreThis place is dope. My mom found this restaurant because she has celiac and needs to eat gluten free food. It can be very difficult to trust new (to us) or any restaurants because whenever she consumes gluten she will get incredibly sick. But she loves this place and I do too.
We've ordred from here togo and dined in at the restaurant. It is always good- flavorful, fast and the staff so nice. It is a really wonderful restaurant. A little pricey, but worth it for my mom to feel safe out to eat.
The horchata is delicious. They are byob but also have margarita mix available. The restaurant is fairly small- so there are not many tables and is very clean. I like their bbq ribs and the esquite (side of corn and peppers) that comes with it is amazing. Ribs are SO tender and falling off the bone. And the taquitos are my mom's favorite. 😆 We had the queso fundido recently and that was delicious as well. They have both corn and flour tortillas (only the corn are gf, obviously). Both are very good!
My mom has tried a lot of the menu and there are only a few items that she can't eat (since they are made with gluten). But the staff is knowledgeable about their menu and will double check to make sure what she orders is gluten free. Everything that I've had here has been really good. And I'm glad that my mom found a really good restaurant that she can trust with her allergy. I really enjoyed the tampiqueña the first time we ordered from here (togo). I'm excited...
Read moreUpdated Review March 2025** They are NO longer a BYOB. They have a full service bar. There is a $25 corkage fee. The food is still good and drinks are small but all the juices are fresh squeezed. No longer dimly lit … there were more families and groups They also charge for everything extra … $1-$2 for extra salsa and $3 for extra chips. With everything costing more now a days it’s understandable that they had to raise their prices. The servers are nice and accommodating. However now that they are no longer a byob be prepared to pay at least double.
Original post This place was amazing Friday date night. Setting: Low lit, inviting atmosphere. Staff: Genuine, non egotistical, down to earth people. Food: Beautiful plating to match the flavorful food. BYOB: with available margarita mixer for own Tequila bottle....whaatttt!!! Which was fresh tasting and not overly sugary btw. There is not a single thing I can say negatively about this place. Even the price for quality of service and food was worth every penny plus some. They have only been open a month, by the end of the summer I know I won't be able to just walk in and get a table. You have found a loyal customer in us and...
