Take it from a local Google guide...
Disgusting bathrooms Nasty naked people Predatory billing practices Deceitful, lying salespeople You try to cancel and have difficulty, and then can't get a refund.
The bathrooms constantly smell like extreme BO.
Swimming lessons for children are held here and other locations (British Swim School), but there are no family restrooms. If you are the opposite sex of your child, be prepared to be encountered by nasty men walking around naked in the restrooms while you are trying to take you child to go potty. If you can't have a family restroom, don't have activities for children or change the configuration/rules or something.
Now for the sales/billing lying and deceit...
Last year, I got a membership for a friend who was visiting from abroad for a few months. The sales guy at the location on Gulf To Bay said he could set my friend's account to auto cancel on a certain date last year. Good deal right? But I was still being charged after the agreed date, even though my friend hadn't been back to Esporta/LA Fitness, because he was already in his home country!
Meanwhile, after getting half of my home destroyed in Hurricane Helene, only getting 10% of destruction covered by insurance, and losing a car that was only covered 1/3 by insurance, I had an emergency surgery during Hurricane Milton which has also left me in the poor house.
After all that had happened and not being fit to work out, I noticed the extra charges and went in to the is LA Fitness location to cancel his membership and put my account on hold (they charge you just over $10/mo to keep your account open, which is dumb, but whatever).
I was told it would be taken care of but that they couldn't refund me because the auto cancel feature wasn't something that was even available. I was very upset that the salesperson who opened our accounts had lied, but decided to move on.
7 months later, I finally felt like maybe I could return to start working out again. I hadn't checked all my statements with a fine tooth comb because they were numerous, due to attempts at recovering from the devastation the hurricane caused me. Thinking of returning to LA Fitness, I started looking at my statements to see if they were still charging my credit card the $10 or so per month to ensure I could just walk in and reactivate my account.
Lo and behold, I was not only being charged my membership pause but was also being billed $54 per month for my friend's account, who wasn't even here and hadn't been to LA Fitness in about 7 months, for a total of nearly $400.
I went in to speak with a manager and they closed my friend's account and gave me a receipt/letter this time saying my card would no longer be charged. Great but...
THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME A REFUND!!! and gave me no avenue to escalate!
I was told I had to fill out a form or something because whoever supposedly cancelled my account wasn't authorized to do so. Baloney. I was never told about or given any form, or I would have filled it out right away.
I was lied to by sales... Lied to by another associate about cancelation... And after all that I've been through, these people will not return my money for unrendered services that were supposed to be cancelled not once, but TWICE!
They can change ownership, branding or whatever, but the long history that these places have of swindling you still persist.
I'm wrecked financially right now. I haven't even replaced my car and have small children to clothe, feed, and take care of and...
A couple other points...
Pool was broken for 6 months Missing useful equipment like hip thrust machine. Alternative you have to use a station with the free weightswhich is dangerous for people working out for physical...
Read moreThis location on Missouri ave is a joke. I was member at the one at park Blvd The staff at that location were great informative friendly and it was pleasure seeing them but the Missouri a total different story. I stopped my membership because I started a new job and moved. Once I got settled I went to the one on Missouri. The worst experience ever.i went in there and told them I wanted to rejoin first impression rude and unorganized it had only been about 6 months since I stopped. Well to begin with no discount, paid a new membership fee, then after they got my money no your and I had paid upfront when I was member for 22 personal trainer sessions. I had paid 2500 for those sessions well I had 10 left and asked if I could still have them he supposedly looked and told me no problem and would get back to me.well 4 months later haven't heard from him after I called to inquire twice. To add to that they charge me every month. They never did a re assessment even though I paid full new membership fee. Their response was I know everything and won't need their asst just start.Really they don't have the time to give me a tour of a facility I never been too. Six months since I been there and they blow me off how rude is that . You would think I paid but can't get 1 he of their time they don't what physically might have happen in that six months. Unbelievable the arrogance and cockiness of this staff. To add I asked to cancel my membership over the phone the response was come in between 8 to 5 monday through Friday to cancel cant do it any other way REALLY seems like most people work those hours including me. I would never recommend that location I rather travel 7 miles to the park Blvd location then go to the one 1 Mike and a half from my house. Never in my 54 years have I experience such an unpleasant experience . Good luck getting any response all they want is your money. No recommendation from me. Thanks for...
Read moreI started personal training at LA Fitness in July 2024 after realizing that cardio alone wasn’t enough to help me reach my goals. I’d had past success with strength training, so I decided to give it another try. Over the course of several weeks, I worked with different members of the LA Fitness team – each one was effective and a pleasure to train with – but it was when I began working with Tayo that everything changed.
From our very first session, I noticed something different about Tayo: he is truly meticulous when it comes to form. While previous trainers had me doing more sets and favoring HIIT workouts (which I didn’t really enjoy), my first sessions with Tayo focused on just one or two exercises, with several pauses to make sure my technique was perfect. This laser-sharp attention to detail made a tremendous difference. As I continued training twice a week with him, my strength steadily improved, and we began to work through more exercises – but his commitment to correcting my form never wavered.
In the nine months I’ve trained with Tayo, I’ve gotten significantly stronger, lost body fat, found real confidence in my workouts, and remained truly accountable. Best of all, I never suffered a single injury—thanks to his exceptional focus on proper technique and safety. Tayo was always professional, warm, and supportive. Working with him has genuinely changed my life, and I could not recommend him more highly.
Shoutouts also go to the entire LA Fitness team for their excellence, especially Manager Amber and my favorite Zumba instructor, Flora! They all contribute to the positive, encouraging environment that makes LA Fitness such a great place to train.
If you’re looking for a trainer who’s truly invested in your progress, your safety, and your overall well-being, you will not find anyone...
