In the mood for a late lunch I pondered upon my appetite. Sushi came to my stomach and my mind thought to ask Google. This place had a 4.5 rating and was open so I sought the establishment. Once I entered the atmosphere was perfect. Beautiful artwork everywhere, dimly lit, and there it was at the back, the sushi bar. I proceeded straight to a stool. It was after 2 so I was alone with the staff. I thought this would allow some time to chat with the sushi chef, alas there was a language barrier so she just smiled. Content with watching the local news and absorbing the ambiance of the decor I was handed a menu. Being just before 3 I could order from the lunch menu. There were so many choices and Jalapeno Spicy Tuna Poppers sounded amazing for an appetizer. Frugality kept me on the special lunch menu. Hibachi Chicken and Veggies with rice and noodles, let us not forget the salad, was my choice. I had them make an Iced Green Tea also. Most places use matcha, I don't think they caught wind of it yet. I had about a 12 minute wait for my hot food but the salad was right out. It was amazing. The ginger dressing on the salad, I found out when the head chef came out of the kitchen, was made in house, not that waterdown stuff. I could hear my main dish finishing up and as the sauteing ceased it came out steaming a moment after. The sauce it was prepared in was so flavorful. The portion was large but I was hungry and enjoyed having a bit extra, I'm a big guy. I give this place a 5 star rating because it was exactly what my stomach wanted, the bathroom was clean, the decor amazing (hand painted Koi on the walls), and down right chill. Check it out. Lunch was calm but I was told by staff they get busy after 5 and not just in house but to go and deliveries though those apps. The place is so cool and delicious it is worth waiting.

Ordered 2 hibachi dinners for carry out. Prices seemed reasonable, typically love Asian cuisine, this place is pretty close to where we live and we were looking forward to giving it a try. Unfortunately, this was a huge letdown. -“Filet mignon”: super grisly (fatty), not 100% sure this is a true filet mignon. Instead of the traditional smaller size pieces that tend to melt in your mouth with good seasoning, this alternative was very chewy and on the blander side. -noodles and rice also did not have much flavor, nor have a taste of freshness. -clear soup was not terrible. -veggies were good, I was so put off from the steak I ended up losing appetite. I don’t mind a marbled steak like a ribeye, but I do prefer to know what I’m ordering: I was hoping to get a great tender and juicy filet which is why I ordered that. Lead time was relatively quick from when we ordered the food which was great, but if it’s a matter of quality that makes an order take longer, I’d take the latter over speed of getting the order any day. Portion is huge which would make it a good value if the food was decent. Umai is a definite strike out for me, maybe their sushi is more worthwhile, I did notice some great reviews about the sushi. If you are in the mood for hibachi though, I would not recommend here.

I recently moved to the area and have been looking for good sushi. The reviews were outstanding for the sushi itself and honest about the decor and ambiance sorely lacking so that is what I was expecting. The ambiance was even worse than stated with bright iridescent lighting, the TV set on Live PD and the smell of oil from hoods clearly not working well in the kitchen. I ordered the tuna sashimi (no rice) and the salmon sashimi 1st so that I could get a sense of the fish quality 1st. It was pretty good and fresh. A bit small but no big complaints though I've had better. I perused the specialty rolls and settled on the Hawaiian Roll with tuna, salmon, tempura shrimp, avocado, crunch and spicy mayo in soy paper. It came out served in a strange shape (see pictures) not round so it made the bites awkward. The portions of the tuna and salmon in it were too small to make a difference in taste. The rice is not just "sticky" but instead very pasty and dense. I would not get this roll again. BUT, being that the fish itself is very fresh (they get whole fish in every couple of days and filet it in-house), I will give this place another shot and order a roll specifically as I like it. I will, however, order it to go and eat it in the warm and comfortable ambiance of my home.

I would give it zero stars if I could! I placed an order online to be delivered, nearly $50 in food for dinner, on Thursday afternoon at 5:15PM. The order was placed through the restaurant's website, and apparently via a 3rd party company called Menufy. An email from Menufy confirmed our order was received at 5:17PM, and would be delivered in 20-35 minutes to our home address (everything was correct in the email). After 60 minutes and no food, we attempted to call both #s listed on the website and there was no answer - more than 5 calls were made by both myself and my husband. Finally, my husband got in the car and drove to the restaurant, and it was closed. No one was inside and the doors were locked, lights out - it was 7:00PM. We contacted Menufy by looking up the # on the internet since the # in the email produced no answer as well. We were told they could not refund our money until they confirmed with the owner that the restaurant was, indeed, closed. The rep at Menufy even stated, more than once, that they would need to determine 'why the restaurant was closed' and 'for how long' before they could return our money. He said that because the restaurant didn't notify the company they were closed, he couldn't verify it until he spoke with someone directly from the list of contacts at the Restaurant. The Menufy rep called us back at 7:30PM to inform us they had not been able to reach the restaurant or the owner's private contact information ...and had been trying since we placed our order to get an answer at the restaurant! I was livid...because why wouldn't they have called us at 5:30 or even 5:45 to tell us they couldn't get our order confirmed, instead of sending us a confirmation email that our food was on the way? The Menufy rep insisted they would follow up on the case and get back to us ASAP. We contacted our bank to dispute the charge immediately after the last Menufy call Thursday evening. We have yet to hear back from Menufy (it's Saturday), even though we have left several messages. We cannot get anyone to answer the phone at the restaurant so my husband is headed back over there this morning at 11AM, the time their website claims they will be open. This is ridiculous, and there is no excuse in a customer having to go through this to get a refund on...

This place... Was... Probably one of the worst restaurants I've ever gone to for a combination of reasons, not all pertaining to service or food quality.

We wanted sushi, and so we were looking at reviews. We decided upon this place due to having the score it does with hundreds of reviews.

We get there and are quickly sat. Our server however... Has negative personality. Almost sucked our own personalities out of us. She barely spoke, always incredibly short responses, not very great for customer facing interaction.

The place is a Japanese sushi oriented restaurant, no Asians in sight. Off-putting.

There was absolutely not music or silence breaking measures aside from their oddly placed singular tv with a Latino show on in Spanish.

The place was empty, and sort of dark and dingy feeling.

The bathroom hall was gross and scuffed up along with emloyee bikes stored in the open back there.

The bathroom itself had a clogged toilet left ignored and no paper towels, despite the place being dead, not like they had anything else to be doing.

Every time we or the other single table spoke it felt like the whole restaurant may possibly be listening as well, felt like we were on stage it was so awkward and quiet, which encouraged us to not talk to each other at all.

The soda came completely flat.

We continued to look at reviews and discovered there was roaches found in several customers food, so while waiting we were thinking about roach food and quality the whole time which pretty much destroyed our appetites.

The sushi rice was oddly smashed and... Not like perfectly cooked rice grains.

The flavor overall was just.... Eh. Food was not terrible but not what we've come to love and crave from many of the high end sushi places we've been to.

Fish didn't stink or have slimy/sticky feel. Didn't taste off or anything, but it was just overall unimpressive.

Absolutely awful awful experience. Just... Can't recommend. Food isn't good enough to float the place considering all the other issues. One of the most jarring dine in experiences I've ever personally been in...
