Carr Auction & Real Estate — Local services in Larned

I went to Carr Auction to sell a quantity of guns at their gun auction. I spoke with them and told them what I had to sell. They assured me they could get me near the prices I expected. I gave them a list in writing along with my expectations. I was not given a contract to the fees that would be charged, and I certainly did not sign an agreement of any type.

On February 1st, 2025, they held their auction. My high-quality guns, many new in the box, and highly collectible sold for less than wholesale. They did not speak about each gun that I had, but they did on others. They mislabeled a serial number on one of my guns, which cost me extensively. They lost the magazine to another very expensive gun that cost me extensively. As a result, I lost nearly 40,000.00 dollars over all due to their poor job. I received a copy of the settlement sheet on the day of the sale. I received a call asking how I thought they did. I told them I thought they could have done a lot better. 13 days after the saleI received a check 3% less than the initial settlement sheet that I did not agree to. Warning to all thinking about using Carr Real Estate to sell anything. We were initially advised that our land would sell for around X amount and after it didn’t sell at auction we were advised to take a much lower offer. It was an offer we already had prior to talking with Carr realty. So they basically did nothing for us. We could have handled that sell on our own. The auction was delayed three weeks due to them dropping the ball. There was a very poor turnout. The signs for the auction were put up on the property after I sent a reminder the week before. But the most shocking thing was the breach in contract the day before signing. There was no time to get a lawyer involved because everyone just wanted it over and done. We will never use them again. Rita Kurtz was my realtor for my house in Larned that is for sale. Tho it has only been 3 months since we met and she did the listing, I can attest to her kindness, her willingness to listen and consider everything we discussed. She responded quickly to any emails I sent her and was more than willing to assist me with geting contractors to the house in my absense. More than anything, her kind spirit, her gentleness, her attention to detail AND professionalism...will remain with me always.
