I have purchased upwards of 15 vehicles in my life and this was by far the worst buying experience I have had, and its not particularly close.
My wife and I decided to purchase a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica from them at the beginning of the year. The sales-person Kelli was fine to work with, quiet and reserved, not pushy. The sales manager Ramon was easy enough to work with prior to us purchasing the vehicle.
The issues began when the finance manager Kaylee became involved. She is confrontational and has no customer service skills. She informed us that they apply a ceramic coating on all vehicles they sell. She said the cost of that is already factored into the price and wont show up as a separate line item on the paperwork. When I received the documents to sign, it was, in fact, an additional $800 or so. When I questioned that, she said she misspoke and I would have to pay that additional amount if I wanted the vehicle. When I told her I didn't want to be "forced" to purchase it, she said "well, maybe this isn't the car for you." She was extremely rude and condescending throughout all of our conversations.
In speaking to Ramon, the sales manager, he informed me that I didn't have to pay for the ceramic coating after all which salvaged things.
Because the paperwork wasn't signed until after bank hours on a Saturday, they agreed to deliver the van the following week. After delays, they agreed to deliver it thatFriday. While there was a snow storm that morning, roads were completely clear between Larned and Great Bend that afternoon but they kept citing the weather as to why they couldnt deliver it. After all but demanding they deliver it, they finally did at the very end of the day with a full tank of gas, as Ramon had promised.
After driving the vehicle the next day, I discovered the gas door was not functional. I notified Ramon and asked for it to be fixed. His pre-sale customer support didn't match the post sale support at all. He questioned the truthfullness of my report (Great service!) but after some back and forth they did correct the issue.
Not long after taking delivery of the van, I purchased a Chrysler extended warranty which required a full inspection by a Chrysler dealership. During the inspection they found a very small oil leak and the drive belt was severely cracked and missing a rib.
I contacted Morris Smith Ford and they agreed to have a look at it and scheduled me an appointment. When I showed up, no one had documented my appointment so I had to wait half an hour for Donnie, the service manager, to show up and look at my vehicle.
This encounter was one I would like to forget. We looked at the van together and rather than admitting any issues, he completely gaslighted me telling me there was no issue with the belt, even though I was pointing the crack out and showing him where to feel for the missing rib. He said I was wrong and there was nothing wrong with the belt, even though I again verified the issue with the dealership in Great Bend.
Regarding the small oil leak, Donnie said he couldn't see the leak (of course) but said he would clean the area of the engine with brake cleaner so I could monitor for further leakage. He had me wait in the waiting room while he did that. Imagine my surprise when I realized he didn't spray brake cleaner on the engine, he sprayed SPRAY PAINT on it. Who does that?!?
It was at that point that I decided I was completely done dealing with the clowns at Morris Smith Ford and would never do any business there again.
There is something seriously wrong at Morris Smith Ford. The culture seems broken and every one seems unhappy. No one is friendly or acts like they value your business, particularly AFTER the sale.
Reported early issues to Morris but he was dismissive so I didn't feel that calling about the later issues would yield better results. (we did talk, despite what his response says)
(Based on other negative reviews, I fully expect them to try to shift blame back to me somehow or gaslight me further) -...
Read more1 star as no 0 star options. The worst and I mean by far the worst buying experience of my entire life in 3 countries. Bought a 2018 Ford F150 Raptor online ( 1st mistake) then having John and JD pretend to be each other through the purchase process. From changing my income on my application forms to adding my wife to the loan after I asked not to, and after multiple times of telling them to cancel the sale they still pushed and came to my house at late night hours expecting me to sign paperwork for a truck (which they delivered to me broken) and best of all not even cleaned. And on top of all wanting me to inspect it under a street light.
Now 2 months later I am still sat with a broken truck and being told to get an attorney (which is in the process) of dealing with these crooks.
As with many of the other bad reviews, I fully agree. Charged for extended warranty and maintenance which was never asked for and they refused to take off. They even charged for a ceramic coating which in my opinion this truck only got the day it left the factory. So a 36k truck became a 43k truck.
Over and above this the service and parts director ran to the sales department and said that I apparently said I was going to kill them. ( A total twist of words)
Whilst arguing in the office and planning on leaving the vehicle with them that we "purchased" ( they sent in the contract after promising they would wait for inspection) and getting back in my own vehicle (2017 F150 I have had for 3 years with not 1 single problem), suddenly my brake line was cut and needed replacing. So had to leave my own truck stranded there and leave with the "new" raptor to get to another meeting.
Upon returning and getting back in my old truck and driving 5 miles I had to turn around as now it was no longer the brake line but the brake booster. Got that fixed and then headed home. 20 miles from Garden City KS my truck went into limp mode with no power and was taken to Burtis Ford for a check after Larned worked on it. It suddenly needed an engine control module. A day after getting back my truck 2 weeks later my engine on my f150 ( which had not one days fault) blew up.
Back and forth with Donny the service manager he admitted plugging in his own diagnostic tool ie; Forscan to my vehicle but keeps putting blame on Burtis. So now two trucks down.
All the staff are rude, argumentative, self important and pushy just to get a sale. After the sale the whole contact changes and you can't get a clear answer.
We got sent to the wrong place with the broken raptor to Minnesota where we relocated to to get repaired. An estimate was sent to them and we were advised to get an attorney.
Truck delivered to our house with:
Broken sunroof Broken drive shaft Water leak from roof Door molding on both sides pulled apart from roof lining Broken water pump housing Coolant leak Broken mirror on passenger side Off track wheel alignment and steering wheel crooked Driver side mirror loose Rear tailgate molding missing Truck dirty not washed Could not even have the pride in their dealership to vacuum the vehicle prior to delivery.
Now sat with a 7k work estimate and told neither we nor the truck is allowed on their premises and not allowed to make contact.
This is the worst dealership in the WORLD to deal with
The owner from the Leavenworth office keeps calling from the Larned office and sounds just like the sales person we have been dealing with. So we have been trying to contact the owner at the Leavenworth office and still trying to with no avail...
Read moreI live in Dodge city and went in their shop in Larned with my dad to look at a vehicle FOR HIM. We were pleased with how nice and friendly the staff was at first. I happened to peak into a vehicle and my dad asked if he could see it. The sales guy brought out the key and let us test drive it. My dad proceeded to ask for the price as the car he had originally went to look at did not work out and only had enough cash to purchase that one. When he asked for the price the sales man immediately started filling out paperwork as if we were trying to purchase the Vehicle. We told him and his manager MULTIPLE times we wanted to leave and we did not think the vehicle would work for us. They kept insisting and pushing. I understand they are just trying to sell a vehicle but I felt VERY pressured as they would not let us leave even after we told them we would think about it. They kept asking why we didn't want it and going round and round about getting the car. They then offered us to take the vehicle home and they would pick it up the next day. My dad and I had no other choice but to agree to this because they would just not let it go. We brought the vehicle home and the next day I called both the sales guy and the manager to please pickup the vehicle as I was still unsure if it was a purchase I could make at this time. THEY KEPT INSISTING YET AGAIN AND WOULD NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER! They then proceeded to say they wanted us to take the vehicle back, when at the dealership they SPECIFICALLY told us that was something we definitely did not have to worry about. I was unable to take the vehicle back because I would need someone to drive me all the way back to Dodge City, and my dad was at work. After me telling them I could not go alone they asked if I could meet them half way because another customer was wanting to purchase that vehicle. They even said they could pick it up if they needed to but they never did. The sales guy even had the AUDACITY to ask why I wouldn't get a new car if I had mine for 6 years! NONE OF HIS BUSINESS!! I then receive a message and missed calls from the sales man WHILE I AM AT WORK, saying they were on their way to pick up the vehicle. WOULD BE NICE IF YOU GAVE ME A HEADS UP. I AM AT WORK!! I very nicely let him know I was at work and would be home at 1pm. He proceeded to insist they pick up the vehicle NOW. So inconciderateee!!!! I was honestly really going to consider purchasing the vehicle if they wouldn't have pushed it so much on me, and would of been a lot nicer about things. I do have every message I exchanged with both the sales man and the manager. I also do have their names. Don't think I will ever purchase or go into their...
