Let me tell you guys reading this review something..... I ain't going to tell you much but when I tell you....I tell you what.....
Let me tell you!! Lol
This man (Kevin) who owns this place. Now....I don't know if he is always there but me and the riding fellas stopped in for a bite after walking around Fort Larned for about 2hrs and boy o boy was it worth it!
Kevin walked by everyone's tables to make sure they were good and gave us an intro to what he has going on there. He makes his own sauces (he brought about 6 different samples for us to try) and smokes all of his meats at home. For Christ sakes this man has THREE kitchens!!
You can feel the pride he takes in all of his homemade foods to include the brisket and pulled pork. The fellas asked if I could find us something good to eat and after weighting all of the options in Larned I picked this place because I got the feeling it was going to be good and GOOD it was.
I want to give a shout-out to Kevin for his dedication and passion to keeping strangers (and your regular visitor's) taste buds happy and satisfied. I bad a GOOD BBQ fix that needed fixing and you've satisfied that craving with ease.
To finish this out...I am a very passionate person about several things. I felt your passion in your restaurant and I appreciated feeling your passion through your service to let us know how you get down in the kitchen. I definitely recommend anyone to stop by to eat here. You may not be in the mood for BBQ style food, but if you want to be sure to eat something delicious and have a great experience all at the same time, definitely come here!
Sorry I ate my food faster then I could take...
Read moreWent here while passing through town. There was one table filled and we waited several minutes to be seated despite being passed my staff multiple times. Had 2 servers, younger of the 2 was very kind. We were missing a drink (not an issue) but when we asked for the drink, we were met with a very curt response. Food took quite a bit of time to get out, and especially for the wait, food was underwhelming. The wings got a positive response, but most of the other food was very soggy (fries, fried okra, buns) and/or bland. We were asked how the food was but felt it was not productive to state our dissatisfaction with the food. Also with the already not great service, we decided it was best to not poke the bear. We were charged for food that was said to be included with the meal, specifically with the toppings on the burgers. When we asked for clarification, the response was met with a sassy and rude response. Overall, the experience was quite unpleasant, food seemed undercooked and bland, and the ending interaction as we were leaving left a poor taste...
Read moreSaturday night. I had never visited. I said to my daughter..."slap your clothes on, we're going on an adventure". We live close, so we walked 7 blocks in the cold. She has an intellectual disability and absolutely freaks out in public places, so she doesn't get out much. She sat on a warm couch, watched a Christmas movie on the big screen... The table, a beautiful cross-section of a large tree. Lodge-like. Food was fantastic, for sure, but the atmosphere, customer service... my little red-headed princess was terribly confused and delighted that they were checking on us and taking care of us. On the walk home, this time with wind in our face, she said "Dad, that really was a good adventure". Damn...
