I signed up for the beginner rider course in a couple of weeks, and went today to Eagle's Nest in Lahtrop for a jumpstart and to get some appropriate gear.
Josh was my guy to explain me the shifts and controls on the stationary bike. He clearly knows A LOT about bikes, and was incredibly informational and kind with all my questions. Actually on top of that was a really funny nice chat. I almost ended up signing up to buy a bike on the spot! (only that I need to figure out my finances first!). But I will soon. Thank you Josh, you are the best!
Susie, additionally, on the second floor where all the apparel is, helped me incredibly too, to choose the right shoes, and especially explaining me everything about helmets, and helping me to choose the right one. So much patience and information, thank you to you too!
In general the store is amazing, full of incredible bikes, and everybody is helpful and friendly. Totally recommend! I'll be doing my course in a couple of weeks.
UPDATE 5/5/23: After my initial post, the Beginners Riding Academy weekend came, and it was amazing. Our instructors were Dave and Jason.
They were an incredible guide and source of knowledge during the entire weekend. From the theoretical classes and sharing all type of good processed info and materials, based on their experiences too. To the Driving Range, where they took care of 11 of us all together, no riding experience, making it engaging, but also assertive and safe. I think they are exactly what a Riding instructor need to be: knowledgeable, assertive. On top of that, they made it really fun to spend so many hours learning. Definitelly recommended, had a blast.
UPDATE 6/9/23:
I ended up purchasing a 2023 Heritage Classic 114 at the Eagles Nest dealership, and I could not be happier.
The entire dealership team was fantastic, and they worked around my times and availability, waiting for me, not pushing, helping me make the right choice.
On the Sales side, Josh was kind, patient, knowledgeable. He discussed multiple times with me the pros and cons of the models I liked, and the best part is that we end up making a choice on the one that he thought from the first day was the right bike for me, the Heritage, because of my height, my size, my taste and my skills.
Brad really helped me to get a great price and close the deal, making it a win win for both sides. I remember him saying: I want you to walk out of here with your bike today. And it happened!
Suzi was one more time amazing helping me choose the right equipment. Not only she helped me the first time I visited the dealership, she helped me for the second time buying a summer jacket, a dual Sena intercom, and other things. What I really liked about her is that she really focused on finding what was the best for me, and not just trying to sell me anything. She really knows what she does.
I don't remember who helped me in the Parts deppartment, but was also really good, since I ended up upgrading my lights and getting engine protection bars. What was cool is that the guy walked me to the parking lot to show me his own bike to see how a particular taillight would look like. And looked amazing.
Shaina finally made a thousand papers easy to navigate and close the deal. She even helped me get insurance on a Friday afternoon so I could drive my bike home.
There was more people that I'm probably forgetting (service depparment, etc). that was really good and helped me.
I live 1.5 hrs from Eagles nest. I have closer dealerships, but I still went there, and would continue to go. Thank you Eagles Nest...
Read moreI should start by saying I WAS WARNED! I was warned by other "Harley riders" that this dealership had "sketchy" business practices. I had no intention to purchase the bike on the Sunday I went in, however I was fairly certain that I was going to buy the bike I ended up with but just wanted to sit on it and check out the fit first. The finance/sales guy showed me one of those "today only" deals for the bike I wanted (you know the guy..."hey let me go talk to my manager and I'll see if I can get you a better deal"). The "today only" deal took the bike from $13600 down to less thank 12K. I jumped on it like an idiot. Well that was the old "bait and switch". The next day when I was looking over my paperwork I realized the sale price was the original 13600. I know...should have read it more carefully before signing but I had already endured several hours of the condescending crap talk they give women and just wanted to get out and go home. I have no leg to stand on for that one but BE WARNED and IF you decide to give these people your money, read, read, read everything TWICE. The finance woman proclaimed proudly that "YES, of course!" my bike was made in the USA...it was actually made in Thailand. She either didn't know (seriously???) or she was lying. When I picked up my bike the guy who was going over it with me told me to keep it under 3500rpm for the first 500 miles. Now, there are only a handful of models that harley sells...its not so much to learn (or is it???). Turns out when I read my manual that night it was actually 7k rpm. BIG DIFFERENCE! Now I don't mean they should memorize the manuals but AT LEAST know the important stuff AND DON'T MAKE IT UP. Next the parts department... The handlebars were pretty far forward and I wanted to pull them back a couple of inches. The parts guy said "let me look into it and I'll call you". Ok. He did. But when he called me back he was going on about a different SEAT and FORWARD CONTROLS that he said would get me closer to the ground and "shorter riders" like these. SERIOUSLY???????? That wasn't even in the ballpark of my question!!!!
There were so many other little things...like the "bait and switch" guy asking me why I didn't want a different model....condescendingly asking "I guess that one is too big for you" and other ridiculous comments like that.
I'm disgusted that businesses that condone dishonesty and bad behavior stay in business but I guess its still common practice.
I would like to close this WAY too long review by saying that gentleman who was originally helping me (his name is Anthony) was an ABSOLUTE gentleman! He was knowledgeable, kind, respectful and just wonderful to work with. I think that was why my guard fell so easily. Anthony, if you read this, RUN do not walk to a more reputable place to work. You...
Read moreThis post is regarding my husband’s Brand New 2022 Road Glide Special we purchased at Harley Davidson Eagle’s Nest Lathrop, CA.
First, for the 1,000 miles service oil change and check-up, they forgot to place the bolts back on the derby cover. I left Eagle’s Nest and oil dripped and flew everywhere, all over my bike and stained my newly paved driveway. They made ME pay for the towing back to Eagle’s Nest so they could replace the bolts they forgot to place in for the derby cover. This was a serious safety hazard to me and others with oil leakage. They were not apologetic and made me feel as if this type of thing was no big deal, this happens regularly. They refused to reimburse for the towing even though this was their fault.
My second major dissatisfaction is about my upgraded handle bars and heated grips. They gave me a printed quote then called me a few days later after my bike was in their shop to say they misquoted. They said they needed to charge me $500.00 more! Now, this week, I informed them my heated grips are malfunctioning after only using them a few times. Although, this is within the 1 year warranty, they are charging over $400.00 just to diagnose why the heated grips are not functioning. They were misleading in their upgrades and sales.
Their owners and management for customer service are dishonest and their overall ethics are poor. I do not recommend anyone to give their business to Eagle’s Nest Harley Davidson Mechanical Services. They have a nice sales team and apparel shop. Their service quality is shoddy and service department lacks any courtesy.
I have other negative incidents that occurred with Eagle’s Nest and I have multiple major negative mishaps in the past with my other HD motorcycle with Eagle’s Nest. I really did not want to leave a negative review, but this is years in the making - they...
