I am sharing this review because my elderly parents went to this store to return something from Amazon (one of the services they provide). I sent them a gift they wanted to return. I processed the return with Amazon and sent them the return QR code. They had difficulty retrieving the code in their phones. They called me when they got to the store and waited in line with 5 people in front of them. I listened as Beth, the Staples employee, spoke to them when it was their turn. When they tried to explain that they needed help with the code, she was impatient and rude. She said “Next,” and said she could not help them! She did not try to serve them or assist them at all. I insisted that they put her on the phone with me. She proceeded to tell me to print and mail them the QR code (from SC to FL) or tell them to go home and print it out and come back. I explained that they are in their 80s, do not have a printer, and just driving to and walking into the store is challenging for them. I asked her to please try to assist them. She rudely replied, “Well I’m not going to give you my personal email or text number.” Then she tried to tell them to leave and come back after I send them the code through the mail. I asked her to please put someone who is kind on the phone. Eventually a kind customer in line named Marie offered her phone number to receive the text with the code. I quickly sent it to her and it was done. Beth had zero reason to not be a kind human. It would have saved her time and prevented all the stress she caused for two sweet people in their 80s who just are not tech savvy in this tech world. I am beyond grateful to sweet Marie for stepping in to help. Shame on you, Beth! I hope you never find yourself treated this way when you get old. I called the store and asked to speak to a manager. He was very nice and apologized for her behavior. I asked that she have some training or mentoring to treat people with more empathy and kindness. He said he would. Hopefully, the next customers will receive better treatment when...
Read moreCustomer service was surprisingly wonderful! I was there late afternoon, to hurriedly (before a thunderstorm began) purchase a black and white laser printer, toner, copy paper, extension cord for an elderly family member. As I was checking out, Nick (at cash register) offered to help me carry & load heavy, large printer into my car! I was grateful, as it was much too heavy for me. As we reached my car, the rain started, however, a spectacular, full rainbow with a high arch appeared, and awed us. Nick's gentlemanly, kind gesture to help advice and beyond his job duties was appreciated. Staples (and other retailers!) need to hire and train more employees to offer this high level of customer service. (Reminded me of The Dale Carnegie course and Mr. Carnegie's Golden Rule, "MOPFI.") A big thank you, and kudos to...
Read moreI gave one star because the girl working in the printing department had a great attitude and scanned my plans while I waited, and was very pleasant. I can't say the same for the girl at the register. There were two women checking out and older women and a younger women. I got the younger one. I know it's hard to find help today but this girl should not be working with the public, she probably shouldn't be working anywhere. This was around 10 am today the 28th. While she was ringing me out she was on her phone texting, then she shoved a cracker or something in her mouth and while eating her cracker she said have a nice day, or have a good day, I don't remember exactly. Food in her mouth and talking, she was disgusting. The texting was bad enough but a mouth full of a cracker and trying to talk, really! I'm sure you get...
