What joke for an alleged "gun store". I have purchased man firearms in my life. Usually, the entire process takes 15-30 minutes MAX. NOT AT CABELAS. I purchased a rifle 2 weeks ago, and the process took almost 2 hours. They had 2 employees working at the gun counter, and the employees were constantly complaining how it takes 3 employees to run a form, and that the manager was incompetent with scheduling, so every customer was expected to wait.
I went back this week to purchase a shotgun, as I had some gift cards to use. What a mistake that was. I purchased a Benelli shotgun, meanwhile, the employee was telling me that anyone who spends this much money on a shotgun must have lost their mind. "I personally like tristar and taurus for my guns". Ummmm EXCUSE ME? This is MY MONEY I am spending. This is ignoring the fact that it once again took almost 2 hours to purchase a firearm.
I am not sure if the employee who helped me had no clue what they were doing, or it was policy, but they had to call for a manager no less than three times to lookover my paperwork. Each time, someone different came, and they acted like they had never seen a form 4473 before.
It seems that in the fall, they were much better staffed, and the employees were very knowledgeable and helpful. I am assuming they got wise and found better employment, as I did not see many familiar faces in the firearms department my last two visits.
Thankfully, my gift cards have been spent, and I can make my firearms purchases at a much more efficient and better staffed store. This sucks for me, because I have always liked cabelas, and have been a club member since the store opened in early 2017. As a company, you should be embarrassed at the current state of your...
Read moreSo I decided after work to go on Black Friday and purchase one of the Savage Axis Xp package. Me and my wife had went the day before and a store associate had told me they could only be purchased on Black Friday even at normal price. He suggested he would not wait through the crowd at 5 am but as they had so many of those rifles ,but against his suggestions I did anyway and that’s where it all happened. So upon arrival I had Made my way through the door I had gotten in line where I was advised after 20 minutes we had to get tickets like a meat counter. So I had to lose my place in line to get a ticket. After I had gotten a ticket me and several other in the crowd realized they had started taking whoever was there adding more to the frustration especially since I had just gotten off work and been awake almost 24 hours. Finally after about 20 minutes of the number they had posted not changed. A few irate customer started speaking up than that’s where it further added insult to injury. So those people we allowed to go to front and purchase while everyone else had wait get their number called . Finally after waiting almost 2 hours and about 30 guns in ( because I started keeping count ) they had ran out . I do think they should have put a limit as some people purchased 2 or more as well I felt misled by the associate who said there had plenty, as well when I got home and waited about a hour and online was showing they still had those firearms ??? I have shopped online at Cabela’s and Basspro for years but that looks like it...
Read moreI drove a hour and a half Sunday to look at a gun with accessories and a scope that was marked for $499.. I decided to purchase the gun and the salesman realized that they where out... He told me that they would get shipments in on Tuesday and he recommended me to wait to get a new one that hadn't been dry fired by customers and I would still be able to get it for the $499.. I returned to the store Thursday to purchase the gun and it had a tag on it for $784.. After talking to salesman and them calling the gun sales manager "Jacob" I was not able to get the gun for the original price of $499.. Jacob said the best he could do, would be $654 + tax.. Still almost $200 more then priced to originally!! Redicules!! Also the floor manager that night after me driving a hour an a half and being in the store for almost 2 hours, was extremely rude and told me that it would not do me any good even if we could work out a deal because there register's had been shut down for thirty minutes and I was out of luck!! What kind of place would want to be represented like that? My family, friends and myself have done several years of business with Cabela's and now they are going to lose all that business because they are all disapointed in how they have done things and not be loyal to there original...
