Updated Review (6.28.2025): I have went back to this restaurant a few times since my previous review so I wanted to provide an update. I have not had any issues in the past few visits so hopefully the manager has shored up. I usually get tacos or the Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla but wanted to try something different. I took advantage of the Lunch Enchilada deal. With this meal you get two enchiladas and a side. I chose the Smoked Brisket and the Shrimp Enchiladas. Of the two the Smoked Brisket Enchilada was my favorite. I was actually surprised because I get the Smoked Brisket and Spicy Shrimp Taco often but my favorite of those two is actually the Shrimp Taco. I will say that the lettuce that was on the meal was not fresh. It was starting to wilt.
Previous Review: We went back this past weekend and had another bad experience. At this point it is disappointing because they have really went down hill. Our meals came with sides and we ordered a queso and a salsa. Each are supposed to come with chips. When they brought out the food the runner said "We are running low on chips if you run out we can get you more.” Between my husband and myself we can only eat one basket. However, we always take a basket home for later. At any other restaurant when you order a side you receive a side. Bad business practice.
Brunch Review: I had to remove one star because of a recent experience. We went to Local Taco to try brunch for the first time on Saturday June 17th. We have never had any issues in the past but if this would have been my first time at Local Taco I would have not been back. When we arrived the girl behind the counter was reading. There was a couple in front of us and as they were signing the credit card slip she started reading again. When we walked up we had to wait for her to acknowledge us until she finished her sentence. We both ordered brunch tacos and when I asked for chips and salsa as a side she said that only brunch sides can be ordered. They only have three brunch side items and I am not crazy about two of the options. When our order came they forgot to bring out an order of grits so I had to let the cashier know. Also, they did not put pickled onion on my husbands “The Tomas” taco. I was not a fan of the grits or the potatoes. The potatoes were not seasoned at all the grits were extremely runny. It seemed like they just added grits to their queso. Again, we haven’t had this issue in the past but overall the experience was terrible so I had to share.
Previous Review: We love that Local Taco came to Hamburg because the other location is out of the way for us. We ate there for the first time Saturday during lunch and was not disappointed. There was a line out the door but they had two registers going so the line did move quickly. However, it would have been even quicker if they had a self-serve ordering kiosk or two. The service was also friendly. I got three tacos. The Local BBQ Taco, the Korean BBQ Taco and the Steak Taco. When I bit into the steak taco I thought that neither of the others could beat it but the Korean BBQ Taco was even more fantastic. The Local BBQ Taco was much less flavorful than the other two. My husband got the Local BBQ Taco, Tequila Lime Chicken Taco, and the Smoked Brisket Taco. He liked his as well but agreed that the Local BBQ Taco was not as good as his other two. The chips were also great and the salsa was delicious. Just know in advance that the portion size of the tacos are on the smaller size but the taste made up for it. Also, if you look at the price of their local competitors you will see that their prices are reasonable in comparison.
Update: I have tried every taco on the menu, with the exception of the vegetarian taco (not a fan of mushrooms), and my favs in order are Korean BBQ Taco, Steak Taco, Spicy Shrimp Taco, Smoked Brisket Taco, and Southern Fried...
Read moreFor the price that this place is asking for vs of the food they put out to you, not worth the drive or the money really. Everything were bland and not cook well. I say better go to an authentic Mex place and get your tacos there and you will be much more satisfied. Rice was dry to a point that it seemed that they had scraped it off the bottom of the pan to serve. The corn was mediocre, dry and not enough seasoning or cheese to make up for what looked liked to be a delicious bite. The tacos.. well.. let me see the Key lime Chicken seemed to have just been boiled and grilled and just got a drizzle of their lime sauce. The local BBQ could use a lot more seasoning prior to being cooked so the meat will actually have flavor in it and definitely lacks the BBQ sauce. The steak was cooked well however it was colder than a rainy day in Lexington with the driest white crema in mankind -honestly very disappointed with this. The Korean taco was consumable but the meat was cut so small that it is absolutely overcooked and dried up -maybe that's why they didn't slack on saucing this one up a bit. The toppings - slaw and whatnot were clumsily chopped and also could use a pinch of salt to say the least. I've heard great things about this place and line going around the building...I just don't see it. Very disappointed. Maybe one day I'll give them a chance again but paying almost $60 for 2 people with tip with this kind of food and 0 service just doesn't...

Let me tell you, I was beyond disappointed with my experience at Local Taco. I had heard rave reviews about their margaritas, and yes, they were good. But that's where the positives end.
First of all, the food is a total rip-off. The prices are sky-high for what you get, and the quantity and quality are downright disappointing. It's like they're trying to cater to some watered-down, bland version of Mexican food for "super white folks." I was expecting authentic flavors, but all I got was mediocre, overpriced grub.
And don't even get me started on the portions! It's like they're serving food for children. I left feeling hungry and unsatisfied, despite paying a premium for my meal. Talk about a waste of money.
I decided to try the "jalapeno slaw" as a side, and it was a disaster. It was dry as a desert, and the so-called "jalapeno" was barely noticeable. It was like they tossed in a few sad pickled jalapeno bits and called it a day. It was the driest, saddest excuse for coleslaw I've ever had.
Honestly, I felt like I could have recreated the entire meal at home with minimal effort. Why pay so much for subpar food that lacks flavor and authenticity? It's a total letdown.
Local Taco is completely overrated. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's looking for a genuine Mexican dining experience. Save your money and go elsewhere. Trust me, this place is a disappointment in every sense...
