(PRIME DEIVER) If I could give this place NEGATIVE stars I would. Called this morning at 0800 to ask what was the earliest I could come in at for my 1500 appt. I was told by THE RECEIVING OFFICE that I could come in 1 hour before. So to be safe I come in at 1425 because I know delivering in Chicago is a pain. Security didn’t even look at my paperwork. Didn’t check the system, didn’t hardly look at me “what time is your appt” I responded 1500. She said I had to come in right at 1500. 5 years I’ve been driving and I never once have been turned away BY SECURITY for being 30 minutes early. Furthermore the dern place ain’t even busy by the looks of it. NEGATIVE STARS… Will update once I am unloaded to comment on unloading times and such… this place is getting blacklisted for sure.
Update: parked at the gate at 1458 behind a line of 3 other trucks. For a door right away, and less than 45 minutes later my trailer is empty but still have t gotten any info on lumper fee. Stay tuned for part 3
RE-UPDATE…
See pic. Text said to remain in truck until I received a subsequent text about bills right? Well I never got it. Light was green but I didn’t move because no text came. Afterwards another truck lined up in the trailer appts in front of me and I knew what was coming. Yard dog honks at me and angrily points at the light and drives away. Total lack of communication and curtesy. Definite BLACK LIST for this place. -2/10 do...
Read moreFirst, let me release my anger over here. I waited in a messy line of trucks for 40 minutes, and once reached the guard check I was told that I had to checkin via app, or text. They asked me to turn around and come back once I check in the way they want. They wont allow you to stay and check in at that point. It is very tight neighborghood, and trucks are parked everywhere, so there is very difficult to find a parking place. Eventually I checked in over the text message once I managed to find a parking, and aftet 10 minutes I received a text with a bar code, and a dock# assigned to me. Then again, wait in line of trucks to reach the guard, scan the bar code at the guard, and only then you procede to your dock, or receiving office / lumper checkin. I will give them ZERO stars for this mess. They should put signs saying that we must check in before we reach the guard shack, or some person should walk in a line of trucks and give out the papers explaining how to check in. I dont think I will ever come back to this place again. One of my worst experiences. By the way, I dont think there is an overnight parking, even though I saw many trucks parked on the streets with No Parking signed posted. Also, a cop driving around and requesting...
Read moreParking- They do not have overnight parking available on site. However, I could verify that there is some parking on side streets off Armitgate Ave between George St and 17th st. Depending on time of day, you could park in the shopping center area off North Ave. I got in late at night when it was cleared out and parked behind Andy's Frozen Custard on the corner of North Ave and George St.
There are porta johns and a food truck may come by.it's here now at 1030am. my appointment was at 5am and I got through the gate about 430am. Office for receiving doesnt open until 8am and they still don't answer the phone. no receiving window for drivers. Yard dog drivers are Union and do not deal with Capstone at all. Just have to sit and wait.
Apparently according to the guard who I spoke to I was "lucky to get in because they already turned away 50 trucks" despite there being space to park. This was what he told me when I asked if they could get ahold of receiving and ask if they could expedite my door after 3 1/2 hours waiting.
So far they recently started unloading me about an hour ago but they stopped 20 minutes in and it's been still since. It's now 1045.
I had no issue...
