I recently purchased a vehicle through Carvana that had a few concerns I wanted checked out. I called and asked if Matthews was able to work on the concerns I had and they scheduled me an appointment for weds at 10am. On the day of the appointment, I dropped the car off as scheduled at 10am and I was immediately told by Sabrina in service that most of their technicians had called out and they might not get to it that day. They finally started looking at the car over two days later when they called to inform me that there was a significant amount of damage totaling at least $20,000 according to them and the "clutch is so bad it won't move up a hill", which was a blatant lie as I had just driven the car on a 300 mile road trip with no clutch slipping problems.
I spoke with Carvana and they were more than happy to make any needed repairs to the vehicle, as long as they could send out an independent inspector to verify the ridiculous claims of damage by Matthews service department. After Matthews was told they needed to prove the damage to an independant inspector, I received a call from the Sabrina stating that the GM says they will no longer work on my vehicle and I would have to pay nearly $800 in diagnostic fees before they would release the car back to me without fixing or diagnosing anything. I was then told "if you bought the car from us it would be a different story but you didn't so..." which is a beyond disgusting way to treat a customer.
My only conclusion is that Matthews was trying to commit fraud on the warranty work and since they could not prove the bogus claims of damage they kicked my car out of the shop as fast as possible in order to avoid being caught in a lie. They also spilled some sort of mystery fluid on the front bumper, damaged a wheel and left the car extremely dirty and almost out of gas on top of it.
Luckily for me Carvana has much more integrity than this dealership and stepped up and made everything right. Since Matthews claims of damage could not be verified and I still had some concerns, Carvana was absolutely amazing about the situation and gave me the exact same car with 20k less miles, refunded me $500 for the trouble and lowered the monthly payment! I would highly recommend avoiding this dealership at all costs as it is an extremely poorly managed facility that does not care at all about its customers and will actively try to rip you off if you didn't buy from them. Read moreI took my 2018 Jeep Compass because of a front end noise and the told me that they could not repeat the noise so could not fix. I took it there 3 times for the same loud noise and was told it was not covered under warranty because they believed it was the battery. And the battery was fine. I took it to a local repair shop and he heard the noise and said it sounds like the transmission and because he does not do warranty work to take it to the dealer. So I called and talked to the service department and was told to drop it off and they will look at it. I then called to see if they could fix it I was told they were waiting on a lift. For 4 days they had my Jeep with no calls back to me I had to call them. This was the 4th time I brought it there. I got frustrated enough that I picked it up and all my dad and I got from the service department was shrugged shoulders. My dad was looking into leasing a truck from them but after this he said No.. I feel because I did not buy the Jeep from them they do not want to help me. I have a warranty policy and I would like to get it fixed. He explained to us that they don't work for commission and that they only work for wages. That was a huge plus for us to know that they had no immediate profit for our purchase and whether we bought a $10K or $25K automobile. We were cash buyers and while we thought that would help us with our bargaining ability, Matthews will only match prices in the area as they are already the lowest. They even installed new break pads and rotors on the car as well as so many other things to ensure that they kept up with the PA state standards and even exceeded them. What an experience when they brought the car to us, almost an hour away, because the day we went to buy it the paperwork took us a bit longer than expected.
