Years ago I used a provider who was in the Samaritan network, whom I loved. At the time I had different insurance. I went on to my insurance to make sure she was in my current network and found out that she was. At my exam she wanted me to get some further tests done and sent me to Sam North to get those procedures done. I had no idea that only parts of Sam North were in my network as of the beginning of this year. When they called to schedule my appointment, a perfect opportunity for them to let me know they are out-of-network, I was not told. When I went to due a pre-check on my appointment on line in mychart, I was also not informed - even though they had my health insurance information. When I checked in for my appointment and they asked me if my insurance was a specific provider, they still didn't tell me. At no point was I told nor did I know that the appointments I was having were out-of-network. I had no idea that only certain things were covered at this hospital. Now I have thousands for dollars of debt to this hospital because they couldn't give me a warning or a heads up. I was told by a billing person that they sent a letter in Oct, but they didn't even know I had this new insurance until I checked in for my appointment in February. This is an utterly disgusting practice and places should have to tell you costs up front before you have your appointment or at least warn you in some way that it is out-of-network. It is not hard to put something like that in their my chart system about the appointment being out-of-network for your insurances. I will NEVER have a procedure done with Sam North again and I would advise anyone to not do business with them at all either. Also make sure that EVERY thing you will have done by a provider (even if the provider is in-network) will be done in-network. Because they may send it out to someone who is out-of-network and even though you have NO control were they send it or they may send you to someone who is out-of-network for follow up procedures and they won't tell you that any of it is out-of-network. It is no wonder they lost or pulled out of their contract with one of the biggest insurance providers in the country. They don't care about the people they serve and getting the good but low cost care and making the insurance pay. They just want to make as much money as possible and will screw patients to do it.
AND they said they sent me a reminder in the mail - however last time I saw my provider was in 2017 when I had different insurance and I have never been to the Samaritan North Lincoln before with this insurance.
Update: Oct 16th, 2024 - I just got a message reminder via MyChart that the provider I saw is now out of my network as of Nov 1st, and so is the hospital was as of Jan 9th, but I do NOT have a MyChart message about the hospital being out of network when it became out of network in January, and I have messages dating back to 2017 to now. So I was lied to by the woman I spoke to on the phone from the billing department that said I was sent something indicating this was the case (which I already knew but couldn't prove since she indicated it was sent by snail mail, how do you prove you never got a snail mail letter???). I should not have to pay these charges and from this hospital, especially because I was not informed they were out of network at any step of this process. This is just taking advantage of people by this hospital and the fact that their insurance won't pay and up charging them 3x the amount they would have billed the insurance.
I advise finding another hospital to go to as you might end up with a huge bill you were never expecting, and Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital will do NOTHING to help you despite them being...
Read moreI am Robert McKnight - - — on September 7th 2023 in the afternoon I came into emergency and later went home - - - and I had to return early in the morning on September 8th after going home and having my same painful condition reoccur. And for the very first time of my trips to emergency at Lincoln hospital, the doctor that was taking care of me went the extra mile and found me a cardiologist at Providence hospital in Portland. Thanks to him I was able to be treated the next day with 2 stents that may have saved my life. . You can look up my records and see who the doctor was. He is really to be commended. Thank him so much. In past trips to emergency, I have always just been sent home and had to go on the Internet and find the doctor that might be able to help me without the help of the emergency providing a contact. My wife found a surgeon for my back problem one time when I had returned from emergency. She had to find that surgeon on the Internet and get me connected with a referral from my general practitioner. It would've been nice to have had a doctor at emergency have made a contact for me instead of my wife. That might be something to consider in the future with your staff helping the patients in that way. Thank you again Robert McKnight [ one time while in Mexico and my wife went to emergency, the emergency doctor there contacted two professionals to help with my wife and they took out her gallbladder the same day and a couple of days later pulled out a kidney stone. Thanks to the doctor everything was taken care of within...
Read moreWhile traveling, I injured my shoulder, I was at the emergency room for 3 hours, they did x-rays, but said they couldn't do an MRI. They said the x-ray didn't show anything broken. Once I returned home, I went to an orthopedic doctor and they did x-rays and said that I have a fractured shoulder socket. During the 3 hours I went to the restroom down the hall a few times. The last time, when I returned, there was an elderly lady in a wheelchair. She was approximately 7 ft away from me and she asked me if I had covid, I said no, do you? She responded that yes, she had covid and I asked her why she didn't have a mask on. She said that the staff didn't think she needed one. When I spoke to the staff about it, they said they couldn't put her in the room next door, meanwhile I was warning people that were going into the room where she was that she had covid. They said they could not make her wear a mask, that she had one on earlier but took it off, that it was illegal for them to require it. I researched it and told them that's not true, and then they said that actually she was just waiting for her ride and had already been seen. It was totally irresponsible and unprofessional for them to expose other people to a serious infectious disease. I would drive an extra couple of hours to go to a...
