I love excellent Mexican food. It doesn't have to be "over the top", overpriced "gourmet" yuppie stuff from some "celebrated" and "self promoted" chef ... It just has to be excellent and it helps if it is one of the many "traditional styles" of authentic Mexican food.
I love this place.
Great traditional taste and texture, very friendly and attentive staff and the portions are INCREDIBLY GENEROUS. I would have been wise to leave some on my plate so I wouldn't have been "stuffed to the gills" but I just couldn't NOT eat it ALL.
My only "complaint" is really just a positive "comment" ...
I ate my 1st meal there on a Sunday and since they give their staff Mondays and Tuesdays off, I had to wait THREE WHOLE DAYS to go back for more. That's OK with me, I like employers who treat their staffs well.
I had to go to two other Lincon City Mexican restaurants on Monday and Tuesday ... One was VERY good, their staff was also very friendly and the portions were ample and fairly priced, but it was a milder flavor profile (although the salsa was pretty spicy). I'll happily return to that restaurant again someday. The other one, however, was very "so-so", the staff were OK but the rice and bean side dishes were not (thermally) hot and the prices reflected a LOT of RENT EXPENSE and thus it was not a good value.
It's Puerta...

Update: Still freaking awesome. I think the margaritas may actually be stronger. I suggest the Camarones Vallarta -- a traditional shrimp brochette style plate. ¡Muy bueno!
Double update... Yep, everything is still incredible and the family is so welcoming. Triple update... the fajita steak burrito has to be 14 inches long. I'm bringing a tape measure next time. Thank you!
-- tried my first crispy taco, which was excellent (perfect shell), and stuffed with chicken and veggies. 👍🏼🌮
March 2025 update... The staff is completely new, and the food and service are still great. Everything is just a little different, and we had a great time. In fact, the margaritas are bigger and stronger than ever before, so you may want to hurry in! 💃🏼
June 2025 -- the new version of Puerto Vallarta is honestly better than ever. New decor, new menus, and a new focus on the food and...
Read moreLove, Love, LOVE Puerto Vallarta! It wins in LC imho! Every experience has been great! All dishes we've tried have been delicious and the ability to be able to choose between seasoned ground beef, chicken, pork or carne asada is a wonderful and welcomed offering. Refried beans (yummy, btw) accompanying the salsa and chips! Thank YOU Puerto Vallarta for offering a salsa that isn't too spicy, has a fresher (not canned!) taste, with a touch of cilantro! In our several visits we've sampled, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, tamales and the chili relleno, so far. Each one has been great! Especially good tamales & rellenos! Only disappointment? The efficient and kind staff, need a few days off to recharge their batteries, as we all do! Needless to say waiting, for Wednesday for them to re-open (closed M&Tu) can be a loooong wait!...
