These small town grocery stores are usually a trip. Back in time, that is! The selection is typically a lot more limited, but yet more unusual items can be found, than in the national chains. Prices can be a bit on the high side, but deals can be found. It is always fun seeing where the locals shop.
White's Foodliner was definitely an experience. Upon entering, we were amazed by the fishy smell. Typically, you only get this in the Asian supermarkets such as Seafood City, with their large selection of fish on ice.
Walking through the store, there was a nice deli, salad area where you could get a diverse selection of products. Who would of that that here in the Midwest they would have a large section of sushi available at fairly reasonable prices. Maybe it was due to the college in town. . .
But was was really unique was the large selection of Swedish and Scandinavian food. How could I resist the Mrs. Olson's lefsa???!!! There was a large selection of frozen goods( lutefisk with recipes!) as well as packaged goods. We picked up a few things for sure!
Staff was friendly and service was efficient. Loved the quiet and safe environment around not only this store, but the...
Read morePlaced an order on 12/14 for my Swedish family dinner on 12/24. Paid a HUGE shipping fee to ensure it arrived on time. Was promised it would arrive by 12/22.... I reached out three times to find out what was going on, and I canceled the order on 12/24 because it was too late for our dinner. NO ONE EVER RESPONDED. Still, I kept it for a few days in case Scott's or White's or whoever wanted it all back, but, still NO RESPONSE. Only when I initiated a dispute with my credit card company did someone finally leap into action. Well, you've lost my business forever, and my next step will be to report you to the Better Business Bureau. ...

None of the other checkers or baggers ever ask! Unfortunately I gave only 3 stars overall due to the temperature in the store. It doesn't matter if the outside temperature is 100 degrees or 30, the temperature in the store is always freezing! When I have mentioned it to the employees they tell me that they have to keep it freezing for the coolers and the produce. I have been in hundreds of stores and they are never this cold. A person shouldn't have to wear a coat in the summetime in your store! Due to those circumstances I buy the bulk of my groceries elsewhere and only shop your store for...
