I am reviewing this store with regards to a Black Forest Cuckoo Clock he took from our home on April 4, 2015 for repair after we had him replace the complete movement for our Herschede grandfather clock. We had originally trusted him to fix this cuckoo clock in November of 2014 for an issue with the chiming of the clock. We paid him $150 via personal check number 8325 dated 11/08/2014. We discussed the repair or replacement of the movement in our grandfather clock then, and agreed to have it replaced. He took the movement, and finally brought it to our home on April 4, 2015 to replace it. We paid him $667.45 via check number 8345 for the grandfather clock movement replacement. At that time, we informed him the cuckoo clock was still not working correctly, so he agreed to take the clock back to his shop to fix it again. Since that time, we have not heard from him at all about our valuable clock, other than a brief voicemail he left on October 1, 2016 (which we have saved) stating he was sorry for being busy and would look for the clock and call us back the following Monday. When we try to call his shop, we cannot leave a message because the mailbox is full. I stopped in his store a few months back to inquire about our clock, and he stated he didnāt know what I was talking about. He took my name and phone number and said he would research my request and get back to me. I am still waiting for a response. We retained one of the carved pine trees that decorated the left side of the clock.
This cuckoo clock is a treasured family heirloom brought from Germany by my now deceased father-in-law. We want it back, repaired or not. We are asking for him to find this clock and return it to our family, otherwise we will be forced to seek legal reparation from you, as well as asking for help from media consumer protection outlets. If you have a treasured family timepiece, do not entrust it to this person. It is likely you will never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI regret taking my antique clock to this shop back on May 2, 2023. I wanted it converted from electric to battery-operated. The owner, Niles, told me it would take about a month to complete. Long story short: it took 8 1/2 months in total, which included him twice telling me it was ready for pick up, only to get it home to see it wasnāt keeping time. During this 8 1/2 months, I left several voicemail messages asking for a status update but Niles never once returned my calls. I usually had to go into the store only to be told it wasnāt ready. When I expressed frustration with the delays, he had the audacity to ask me if I had ever tried to fix a clock, as if Iām the one who claims to be the professional clock person! He also said a couple times that he had fixed the clock but āit just doesnāt keep timeā. What??!!?? Thatās the point of a clock. If it doesnāt keep time, it isnāt fixed! The clock has been home now (maybe the third timeās the charm) but is losing about 5 minutes per hour. If it stops completely again, I will not take it back to this store. I will chalk this up to a waste of 8+ months and $225, as I have no confidence in Nileāsā ability to fix clocks or to provide consistently good customer service. Niles, if you read this, please have the courtesy to return your customerās calls! Otherwise, why bother having...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBrought a clock here for service and had an awful experience. I usually don't write negative reviews, but I felt this needs to be mentioned. The clock I brought in needed a basic cleaning and tune-up; nothing major and I was told it would be ready in two weeks. Went in two weeks later, still not ready...he needed another week. Went in two weeks later, still not ready.
Then the place was closed frequently over the next month or so due to some medical issues the owner was having. Fair enough. It finally opens again, I ask about the clock and it's still "being worked on." The guy never asked for a claim ticket any of the times I went in.
This went on for 4 months until the sixth time I went in and they suddenly found it buried in the back. It had been ready two weeks after I first brought it in. Needless to say, I was angry (which I usually don't angry when dealing with customer service issues) and he was not very apologetic. At the very least he could have offered a discount, but he didn't.
I will never go back to Classical...
