Lots of events and organizations have suffered to keep things going strong or at all over the past few years. Loss of volunteers, changes in venue and differences in options affect everyone. Many Highland Games throughout the US have been affected or cancelled this year and struggle to be able to continue. If this is something you are interested in seeing continue and grow back to it's prime, after 63 years I think it is worth the effort, then perhaps instead of complaining and saying you won't return you could volunteer to help out, give optimistic feedback, or at least continue to attend to see if improvements are happening. Read moreFirst time. Idlewild park has a lot of hills. One thing that would have been a huge help would be more signs letting you know what direction to head.
The train was a waste of time. We got to it, saw maybe 10 people on it. A lot of empty seats, but we weren't allowed to get on and was told we would have to wait for the next one. There is only one train.
Once we got to the main field, it was worth it. But the other stuff was spread out on the other side of the park. Not well marked. Took us 25 minutes to find the fiddling...
Read moreThe game themselves. Awesome. People... awesome. Loved the info and costumes, vendors and food were great, whoever set it up, awful.. never found the harps fiddlers or dancers. Had to treck my 7 year old through the open park past the rides trying to find things, wasnt spending 35 extra pp after the 20, never got help to get the pin for him, not enough places to get a drink in the area itself. Couldn't take the train back because it was so busy from the park people. Sadly...
