Free family outing idea! We stopped by Cabela’s Bass Pro Shop in Lone Tree, Colorado it’s like a mini adventure park! 🐻🐠 The kids loved seeing all the animals, fish tanks, and exploring the beautiful store. Perfect for a fun (and free!) day out with the family ❤️ #FamilyOuting #BassProShop #Cabelas #ColoradoFun #MomLife

I'd never been to a Cabela's before today and only stopped in because my earlier appointment let out an hour earlier than planned. First of all, located where it is, while not hard to find, is inconvenient to get to. Again, not hard to find, just inconvenient. The good news is the store is dog friendly so there's no need to leave Fido in the car while you're shopping. This is especially good for summer months. I didn't have the time to peruse the entire store, but I did see was nicely appointed. A couple of employees asked me if they could help and I asked them about an obscure rifle I was interested in purchasing. No one seemed to have heard of it even though it's listed on their website and they quickly walked away. It wasn't until the third or fourth person I spoke to did anyone actually take the time to speak with me or try to help. On a Saturday or Sunday I might have understood, but 11am midweek? But the question is, would I shop there again? Sure. Would I make it a destination? Probably not. [UPDATE] Came in to the store to get a definitive answer on the size and fit of a recurve bow. The archery dept. was fairly busy when I arrived but after a few minutes perusing the gun section they became free. I told the guy what I was looking for and he left me shoot a few sampled in their very own range. We found one I'd "grow into" that also happened to be on steep clearance (which is the primary reason I decided to buy one to grow into). In fact, it was nearly half price. All-in-all my experience there was fantastic. No complaints whatsoever.

I hate to leave a one star review for the Gun Library because they are so friendly and nice. But it really was a terrible experience for my son and I. My first time buying from Cabella’s. Normally I buy outdoor gear from REI and guns from local gun shops. My son and I saw an antique gun that we had been looking for in the gun library. I wanted to buy it but he just turned 18 and leaves for the Marine Corps in a couple weeks and asked if he could buy it instead. It was his first gun purchase and he wanted to do it himself. The employees did not know anything about how to fill out the form, or what the process was or anything. They put his name in the wrong blank and then just left him to fill out the form. He accidentally checked a box he shouldn’t have on a confusing question. When he asked a clarifying question about how to answer it, The employee just said, “yeah, that’s a tricky one.” And didn’t know either. So he checked “Yes.” He submitted the form and got denied. He asked if he could submit another correct one this time and they told him that he wasn’t allowed to buy guns at Cabellas again because he checked that box. The employee acknowledged that it was someone’s job to stay with him to answer any clarifying questions and should have reviewed the form with him before submitting it. Even though they acknowledged it was their mistake they just told him sorry he wouldn’t be allowed to buy guns from them anymore. So I went in to purchase it for myself since I was the one who was originally going to buy it anyway and told my son at least he could come shoot it whenever he was on leave from the USMC. And I bought a $99 shotgun as well. After filling out the form they told me they wouldn’t let me buy it because my son had tried to buy it earlier. I was confused and just said, well I’ll just get the $99 shotgun then. And the manager said, no, I am not going to sell you anything today. I asked “Just today?” And he said no I won’t sell you anything any other day either. Keep in mind I actually have a Federal Firearms License which allows me to purchase firearms without a background check!!! I showed it to them and they said they don’t really acknowledge those at Cabellas and don’t know what to do with them. Unbelievable. Do yourself a favor, go to Centennial Gun Club, Old Steel, Damage Factory, Triple J or any other local gun shop. I have bought from them all and they know their stuff. They let the Constitution decide who gets to buy a gun and not a manager in a chair whose employees have to ask the buyer like they did me, “Now what kind of gun is that? What does it shoot?” I once took my truck to the friendliest mechanic in Centennial I have ever met. He forgot to bolt my differential cover back on and pinched my oil seals so oil gushed out when I started my car. Super friendly. Super incompetent. That is the Cabella’s Gun Library. Their actual gun counter for NEW guns was really amazing and knowledgeable and helpful. It’s just the Used gun folks. Sorry guys. We need friendly AND knowledgeable.

Update: My other son was texted this morning that he could come pick up the gun he bought 4 days ago. He went in and the manager came out and said they weren’t going to give him the gun because he lives in the same house as me and my son who were denied. They told him that his brother wasn’t smart enough to answer the question and that he probably lives in a house full of felons. They kept the $12.50 they charged for the background check that he passed! The government said he was ok to purchase. Cabela’s decided otherwise. No customer should be treated...

I’ve been conflicted about leaving this review but I think it’s important for them to see. I went in last night excited to get a new rod and reel to go fishing this morning. I walked up to the fishing counter and the gentleman working there immediately took me to the rod and reel combos after I had already expressed to him I wanted to purchase them separately. I picked out what I was looking for and went to get my new reel strung with some braided fishing line. The employee stated that I’d have to come back tomorrow to get the reel strung. I have never had to do that before and was quite confused why they couldn’t do it now. He said that it’s so much harder to do than stringing regular line they need someone special. I purchased my rod and reel then went to see if a manager had a better explanation for this. I found a Lady at the customer service desk who politely asked if I needed help and I asked if I could speak with the manager. She wanted to try to help me without them first. So I asked about the fishing line situation and she explained she knew nothing about that department and couldn’t help. So I again asked for the manager. I also explained to her that the gentleman in the fishing department could use some help to which her reply was “In a perfect world we’d help but not in reality” WHAT?!?

Finally a manger came over to help but instead of hearing my story and helping he offered a $20 gift card and said to come back in the morning. Determined to have my new reel strung I called the Bass Pro in CO Springs and an amazing kid said he could do it for me. I drove the 35 minutes to the other location where he was absolutely shocked that this store couldn’t string my reel. He said “It’s just as easy as the other line anyone in the fishing department should be able to do it.”

Moral of the story, please when a customer expresses a concern with the lack of service and knowledge don’t just hand them a gift card and usher them away. Listen to their concerns, I would have been amazed if the manager would have just called another store for me to see if they could...

Hello I just want to let you know that you have 2 amazing employees that I feel deserve recognition. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and also have a cabela's down there. But it does not meet the standards of yours due to the employees. I do not mean to bad mouth the employees at mine, but the two gentlemen that you have at your store has made yourself a customer for life. I had to purchase a rifle on the phone. And they were very patient with me very helpful. Helped me find ways to make my purchase and get it done easily. I was new to this and I got to admit I was probably very annoying and calling a few times as an annoying customer being a little worried. I've worked in retail before and customer service and they went above and beyond. The rifle needed rails so i can attach the scope, but the gentleman told me not to purchase the rails as yet. And when I finally got my rifle to in New Mexico. It had rails on it. I know they didn't have to do that. I know that it's not policy or anything that's just done from the goodness of their hearts. They are a great men. I truly am satisfied and happy with your store thanks to these gentlemen. Every time I need to make my next rifle purchase. I might even make the 5 hour drive down to your store just to make the purchase. Because those guys were so helpful. It took 2 hours to wait for the rifle that they sent down to my store because the 2 guys working at my cabela's store were too busy playing around and literally singing the names of each song that was called and I'm not exaggerating an hour and fifty five minute wait for my rifle. Some people waiting didn't even get seen or assistance because the store was closing. If there is any kind of promotion or raise or I don't know some sort of bonus that you can give these 2 gentlemen Michael and John in your gun library, I strongly suggest that you do. They really do make your store look better and make customers satisfaction a priority. They are a reason why I will always be a customer of your store.

Thank you for reading my message...
