A Disappointing Anniversary at Sierra — Arrogance Over Hospitality
We were excited for a long-overdue date night—just the two of us, celebrating 19 years of marriage. We dressed up, chose Sierra for its reputation and ambiance, and hoped for a memorable evening. Unfortunately, it was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
From the moment we were greeted, the tone was off. When our server asked if we’d dined there before and we said it was our first time, his response—“Yeah I figured, you look like it”—was condescending and arrogant. Not exactly the warm welcome you’d expect from an upscale restaurant.
We tried to shake it off and ordered drinks. Credit to the bartender—they were well made. But then our appetizers arrived before our drinks, which we hadn’t received because our server had seemingly forgotten about us.
Our food was delivered by someone else. I ordered a wedge salad and a medium rare filet. The salad was great, but the filet was medium well and lukewarm—clearly overcooked and sitting out too long. My wife ordered the halibut, and the server chimed in with another off-putting comment: “If you’re looking for something less expensive, go for the halibut tacos.” Then to me: “I see you didn’t go for the petite filet. I know it’s expensive, but it’s amazing.” The implication was clear—and insulting.
The food didn’t redeem the experience. Her mashed potatoes were so runny you could drink them, and the halibut was dry, hard, and tasteless. For a restaurant that claims to fly in seafood daily, it was a complete letdown—especially at $45.
We never saw our server again until the end of the meal. No check-in, no offer to fix anything. When he finally returned, we asked for the menu again to order a bottle of Caymus Cabernet and salvage the evening. Twenty minutes passed. Nothing. When he reappeared, he took the menu without asking if we still wanted the wine. I stopped him and mentioned the wait. He shrugged and said, “I asked someone else to check on you.” No one did.
Dessert was the final disappointment. We ordered the strawberry shortcake, which was dry, hard, and crumbly. Maybe that’s their style, but it didn’t work for us.
For a $165 dinner, this was a terrible first visit. We’ve never felt more unwelcome or received such poor service. Honestly, it was a relief we didn’t end up spending another $165 on wine. Sierra may have the ambiance, but it lacks the hospitality and quality to match...
Read moreSo want to give 5 stars to such a wonderful place. But I can't. But please don't let that stop you. Its marvelous. Let me explain. Just the night before I took my beautiful so to Eddie Vs. Just up 25 and upscale steak/seafood dining. Its 5 star! Sierra is just a notch below. The wait staff are all wonderful but seem to be really tight. As if they have to follow some regiment rules. Not necessarily a bad thing but seems too contrlled. The food and menu are amazing but not quite 5 star. Close 4 and the prices reflect this. But the menu is vast. And you will quickly find your favorites that will keep you coming back! Sadly though I've had to return undercooked pork before, and the gentleman next to me had to return his steak.i can't say for sure what that story was, but I know mine and where there is smoke (or in this case lack of) there isn't fire! Not sure what the full story there is. The real star of the show is the bar and specialty drinks. Even in not a more than 1 mood, you'll order more than one! Delightfully refreshing. My review should not keep anyone from attending. Hope I see you there! But if you want a drop more cash for a slightly better experience go 10 miles north. But the old money vs new money in a tight race will have to be your battle. So to separate the uses, Sierra is far more accessible to more frequent making it upward crowd vs the established route. For example in the parking lot at Sierra are sports cars that doors fold up in colors you rarely used in the oversized box. EVs are all insured by the same who trades accountants like 13 year old boys trade cards. The parking lot at Eddie vs can outbid but not outrace the Sierra lot but as a consumer who can blend in or hide in the corner, the game is a way better 2nd have of strong fairy men presenting. In Sierra, order a special drink that matches your fancy. Then order some food to slow the amazing drink you just ordered another of. Then go for some real food. If you follow the invite to Eddie vs, stay where you are, and take the so that holds eyes and appreciates the food that is better. Pay your toll for doing this and understand why Sierra is great for and...
Read morePerched on a hill with a view that stretches for miles, Sierra is a gem in Lone Tree that perfectly blends a rustic, upscale atmosphere with an exquisite dining experience. It's the kind of place you go for a special occasion, but with a menu and ambiance that make you want to return just for a casual evening out. The first thing you notice upon arrival is the stunning architecture and the breathtaking view. With its deep, warm tones, wood, and hammered copper, the interior feels both elegant and comfortable. But the real showstopper is the outdoor patio. Sited on the crest of a hill, Sierra offers sweeping, panoramic vistas of the eastern plains and the city lights below. As the sun dips below the horizon, the sky puts on a spectacular show of colors, making a sunset dinner here an unforgettable experience. While the view is captivating, the food is what truly elevates Sierra to a must-visit destination. The menu, with its wood-fired focus and American-Southwestern influence, is a delight. The star of the show for many is the Texas Ribeye. This hand-cut steak is a testament to the skill of the kitchen. Cooked to perfection over the mesquite grill, it has a beautiful, smoky char on the outside while remaining incredibly juicy and tender on the inside. The steak is served with a flavorful medley of sides that complement its rich taste, like pico de gallo and a grilled serrano pepper, which adds a subtle but welcome kick. Beyond the ribeye, the menu is filled with other standout dishes, from the incredible rotisserie chicken and slow-cooked baby back ribs to their highly-praised green chile and chile rellenos. The wood-fired grill is clearly the heart of the restaurant, infusing every dish with a unique and delicious flavor. Sierra is more than just a restaurant; it's a complete sensory experience. The combination of a beautiful setting, a relaxing yet sophisticated atmosphere, and some of the best wood-fired food in the area makes it a top choice for a memorable meal and a wonderful birthday reservation for 19 they did an excellent job!! kudos to...
