Shelly's Jewels — Local services in Long Branch

I want to start by saying I know nothing about jewelry but this can't be the way to run a store. I came in for an appraisal with Shelly. I told her I have three generations of family jewelry. Before I can even start opening things, Shelly has grabbed the bag and started dumping out bags onto the table saying "I need to see everything at once". With no regard for what went with what bag. I've never seen a person become so instantly manic. Your surrounded by gold and jewels all day. Act like it.

At one point she dumped out a bag of rings on the table and they bounced all over. One bouncing behind the counter. I had to suddenly yell "PLease please stop, I'm feeling very uncomfortable" She thought I was implying she was untrustworthy. Well yea maybe not with stealing but certainly not trustworthy to treat the things I brought in with and time or care. I don't know if any jewels fell out of the ring that bashed on the floor. She asked if I wanted to look at the cameras and she was the most trustworthy person I'd ever meet. It was a truly awful feeling.

I was so flustered I just started trying to put everything back in the bags that they came in which was almost impossible. At one point she said "this bag, this bag I didn't even touch " Well you did touch it because it's empty and I saw you dump it on the counter with my own eyes.

Then to make matters worse, a co-worker comes over who obviously sees I'm in distress and starts addressing her own project not diffusing the situation, and I dare say creating another distraction. I'm the only one in the store! I was just so flabbergasted that this google reviews were good at all. I don't want anyone to experience the feeling I had in there. I was in there less than 5 minutes total! Also if anyone get recommend someone who actually does appraisals that would be great because Shelly...

I went to Shelly’s jewels to get my cross chain and ring cleaned and to get a stone replaced in my cross and stone re set in my ring …she takes pictures of everything I left including the minor scratches that was on the (synthetic) emerald I’m pretty sure to cover herself so I can’t say they were the ones who did it…ANYWAY I left it on a Friday she said to pick it up on Monday so the owner could do his work …I left with a bill for 45$ for the ring stone reset and the stone replacement for the cross….i left the chain because I asked her to have the owner look at it to see if the prongs needed to be tightened…Monday comes I go in she says that the bill jumped from 45 dollars to $110 because 8 stones fell out while cleaning and they all had to be re set but had no pictures of this claim….but regardless I liked the way the chain looked and the ring was beautiful …I asked if she had the jeweler look at my chain prongs and she says “he did the best he could”…(didn’t answer my question but ok)…not even a week later a stone falls out the cross…wow so I’m back to we’re I started and out of $80…should of just got the emerald re set for $20 smh…overall...
