I want to start by saying that I found both of the people I worked with here to be very nice and personable. However, I will not be returning and I feel at least misled if not just cheated. I have a number of items that need repair in my jewelry and I am doing some clearing out before a big move.
So, noting that the website offers 15% more for metal sales if you apply the money to a purchase or repair, I brought in one of my rings that needed repair as well as a few pieces of gold and silver to sell. I figured I'd sell the gold and silver and see how they did with the repair, to determine whether I'd bring my other items.
I had already given them my ring and discussed the repair when the metal was all weighed and the price quoted. I asked about paying for the repair and the owner said that the metal would be a "credit" that could apply to the repair. But, when he wrote the "credit" on my receipt, it was the same exact amount that I had just been quoted -- without the supposed 15% extra. I assumed that there was a system for this and I don't like to fuss, so I didn't say anything.
I did ask for a ball-park figure on the repair, since I'd been expecting a bit more for the metal and was starting to think this might not be the best idea. I was told around, but no less than $75. That took me aback as well, since I've had similar repairs in 14k done for about a third of that. But, I figured, I had already given them the ring and I'd still be getting a nice bit of cash for the metal.
I went back to pick up my ring this evening and the woman had forgotten completely about the metal sale -- which was fine because I had the receipt. But, she applied only what was written and never added the 15%. She then told me that the cost of repair was $120!! (more than 150% of what I'd been quoted). Thus, using up the bulk of the money I had made from the metal sale. Moreover, looking at the ring in the store it seemed dull, so I figured it needed a good cleaning -- which it did -- and it is fine now. But it is rather unprofessional when you are charging greater than $100 for a repair to not polish the item. And, while I was cleaning it at home I noticed that the back side had been significantly marred! I assume this happened when sizing after the repair, but again.... incredibly unprofessional to not own up to that. I'm just grateful that none of the silver marks were damaged.
Anyway, I won't be bringing my other items. I think that this is a very nice store if you are into Pandora, but they certainly don't seem to value vintage Taxco or other "Art"...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI dont have it in me to only rate one star because the jeweler has done good work for me in the past and is an extremely kind person, but I am completely heart broken.
I brought in a brass Alexander McQueen King Skull Ring that was a gift from my husband. I had dropped it and the crown came loose. I was devastated but my husband said the jewler who we bought our wedding bands could fix it. I took it to them and asked them if it was possible to refix the crown. I informed them that the pearls and jems were all fake and the jeweler informated me that it could cost a bit more that could be worth it but I told him it was sentimental. He sweetly said, "Then lets fix it and get it back on your finger".
I left it with them for a week and when I was ready to pick it up the first time the crown was fixed on backwards. I informed them of this and they told me they could fix it.
I left it with them for a few more weeks and when I got it back the crown was on correctly but the faux pearl had a few scratches and chips to the varnish. I pointed it out and they told me it was some enamel residue that could be wiped off. I paid them and left ,but when I got home one of the Swarovski crystal on the band had fallen off. I managed to find it but was a little bit scared to bring it back. I told my husband that I was going to repaint the pearl and glue on the crystal myself. So I did.
I have a second ring that matches this one and when I put them together I noticed that they were no longer the same color. There was originally a sort of dark wash on the brass that was completely removed. It is like everytime I look at it I notice something else wrong that wasn't like that before.
I deeply regret taking it in. I wish they had told me that the fix would be something that could have damaged or changed the rest of the ring. I feel like I would have saved myself a lot of heart break if I had just glued it back in place with some super glue at home.
The jeweler working here has been very kind everytime I have gone, but I really wish I was better informed about any risks or changes that could occur to something that I thought I made clear was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife (fiancee at the time) had a wonderful experience with Rose and Joe! They absolutely went above and beyond in assisting us. They made us feel like family and we really value that experience because it is something that really could only be given by a place like Gold Market. They are a part of the Longmont community and I felt I really got to know them over time making the perfect engagement ring.
My first time visiting the store was with my girlfriend before proposing, this was in early Sept 2017. Rose made us feel so welcome! Joe answered all of my in-depth questions about diamonds and the whole process. They made my wife feel special and answered all of her questions as well! We even found out that rose gold really looked perfect on her finger (something I never could have predicted by myself) and that was at Rose's suggestion.
After that initial visit I secretly came back to the store a few times. I built the perfect engagement ring with Joe, he helped me design it exactly as I described it with his software. They got us a really good deal for the ring too! Rose was super excited to chat with me about my proposal plans and even followed up with us. I proposed in October and got happily married last fall!
We've since moved away but still recommend the Gold Market Diamond Jewlers to our friends that live in the area. I know that if I ever need anything even now living in another state that I can ask Joe and Rose and they will take care of me and my wife's ring. If I pop in, I know I'll be greeted by friendly smiles and have a long chat catching up. Joe and Rose really make you feel like family and work with you to make your experience special...
