Before going, I highly recommend considering a rideshare or getting dropped off because of the amount of homeless encampment there are however ive seen people park near the venue and they appear to be fine going back to their cars. I was fortunate that my friends band van didn't get anything taken. This is my second time at this venue. I initially saw Deathpact here last year, and it was packed! The layout is simple, you have two to 3 accessible long bars along the sides and rear. A place for merch on the side. There are gender neutral bathrooms and a shared long sink located next to the main bar behind the sound/lighting booth. To the side of the stage, they have an elevated ledge with pillars and fence for a different view. On that same side, there will be an exit for the smoking pit. It's pretty spacious along with some cool art by Dr. Knudson to look at. This year, I came out to support my friend's band, He Films The Clouds. I was there to shoot some footage and babysit the merch booth every now and then. It was mainly a hardcore metalcore show for the band Ithaca. The sound is great. There was lots of room to dance that day. I even did a cartwheel kick combo for the bands 5 times. It was great! I like the venue, sound, and layout. It's really easy to navigate. They do have overpriced drinks, and the second time being there, they only had chips even though they have a menu for food listed. They didn't have food again, so eat ahead of time. When I went, they only had drink tickets for the headliner only. The backstage area is small, and there is a makeshift gazebo for the outside patio area for the equipment, one oscillating fan, and some chairs. It was big enough to suffice for all the bands playing, but that fan inside the gazebo wasn't doing anyone any favors. I hope this helps and gives you an idea of 1720. A lot of great artists have come through to play. it's definitely something to visit at least once if you're...

Went to Skacore DTLA event on September 6th and it was a blast! Got tickets online and they were free if you showed up before 9:30pm. Most events I've seen recently do tickets for $5 if you RSVP on Facebook by marking "Going" for the events. It is a smaller venue so it shouldn't be too surprising that events get sold out. All sorts of genres get played, too. I think Club90s does some of the events, but I don't think they're exclusive to 1720.

Two separate bars here. I went to the one by the restrooms. The pricing on drinks surprised me a bit. 16oz PBR went for $7, but a beer and whiskey shot combo was offered for $15. So try and pre-game some.

We had maybe 100+ people show up that night. The crowd tends to be young and friendly. Moshpit was fun and I didn't see anybody hobbling away at the end of the event or anything. Exciting vibes as the bands go up and play. I imagine DJs have a similar set-up up on the stage, except they don't exactly switch out and they can just keep the music going.

Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation with people or get them to talk to each other.

There are restrooms available inside. There's a smoke pit out back, past the 2nd bar. Got pretty chock full when I went. On my way back, though, there were some T-shirts and CDs for sale. T-shirt was $15 but I mean it's quality fit. Looks good, feels good.

This place has a warehouse feel to it, and it's in the industrial part of LA. I'd use Uber to get you out when...

went to see se so neon :)) some things to keep in mind: VERY sketchy area!! i would not plan on parking near the area, especially if u have a nice car. if you can park further away, theres a paid parking area a couple miles from the venue if you want, and uber the rest of the way there. even better if u can, have someone drop you off.

BRING EARPLUGS! they dont carry them in the venue (i suggest they do! it gets very loud )

the sound could be better in all honesty, the bass is poorly mixed and the mics arent great, tho obviously you dont really care about all that when you're there to have a good time. but if thats something you care about then there it is~

security guards are insanely nice!! most venues (especially in LA) have the nastiest guards who seem to have the shared goal of ruining your time lol, not these guys! super kind :)

everything there is overpriced, $7 for a bottle of water???? yeaaa no, but its what can u expect from any venue right. if you're lucky, there was a street hotdog stand after the show right outside the venue and u can get some water there for less money.

not sure if this was just my show or if its the norm, but they didnt take card at my show for merch! have cash, venmo, or paypal i believe. and the obvious is to bring your ID

the inside of the venue is really nice! theres a whole dining area and everything :) all in all it was a great experience, dont let the sketchy area...

Amazing staff, especially Ray head of security! They received and kept for me my fallen/lost keys and wallet, very honest attendees at the Yellow Claw secret show (luckily) and very friendly and helpful staff! Ray was super helpful and nice, he went to grab my lost things even after they were closed (like 2am) and brought it out for me. That dude's THE MAN.
