Mirror Self-Portrait Photo Studio — Local services in Los Angeles

i visited this studio after my friend had his own session for his birthday in january. his pictures came out fantastic--i instantly knew i wanted to give this location a try. however, i had no occasion that warranted a photoshoot until my recent engagement! the owner explains how to use the space properly along with her expectations from her customers (like ensuring we clean our feet before stepping on the backdrops). all very reasonable and clear.

i knew it was going to be a fantastic experience with the owner and the studio because from the very beginning she was considerate and accommodating! online booking was no longer available for us because we intended to use the studio the same day, so i took a leap of faith and called the location to see if someone could book us over the phone for a same-day appointment. the owner answered and sent us a link to make the payment and reservation. she made it seem so seamless.

now, we did a 30 minute session because we didn't know how we'd do, but the time slot ended up being absolutely perfect. we were able to shoot 150 photos during that time. it was perfectly paced for our single-wardrobe needs.

it has been over a week and unfortunately my busy schedule led me to completely miss my photo access deadline. in another major leap of faith, i emailed mirror self, pleading for an extension which was graciously granted. this happened not just once, but twice! it is my experience that the owner truly understands its client base--the busy folks that may be a bit camera shy in front of a physical photographer. this is a fantastic vision of self-expression captured through a modern lens.

This was our first time at this studio and we didn't know what to expect. Upon first arrival, the two ladies at the desk were very friendly and welcoming. They showed us to the studio and gave us instructions. Once we were given the remote for the camera, my husband played music on the speaker they provided and my kids were having a ball! They had so much fun making faces in the mirror and even clicking the remote themselves. There was a small hiccup when the camera battery needed to be changed, but they were very accommodating and gave us a little extra time after to make up for the lost time during the battery change. We did 30 minutes and it was more than enough time to get all the different types of shots we wanted. There were various chair and even a fan. Overall, we had a really fun experience and now we know what to expect the next time we plan another family shoot. This type of shoot made it extremely comfortable for my family and I. My three boys had fun while I got the family portraits I've been wanting. I can't remember the last time I had a really nice photo of my husband and I together and I have a lot of great ones now. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get professional photos, but with the comfort of being yourself...

i couldn’t believe how self empowering it was. i didn’t know what to expect so i started vision boarding some fun ideas and just picked what i had out of my closet as outfits. arrived (they have free parking!) and the owner was so informative and sweet. she showed me to the room and it was a full on professional photography room. she showed me how it worked, where to stand and then i had total creative freedom to pose, dress, okay music loud haha, how i needed and wanted. the first minute, i was finding my groove but after that, i realized there really was no one else there and i totally expressed myself my way. this was perfect for me bc i’m one of those girls who take bomb selfies at home alone but clam up when out and another person is behind the camera. i highly recommend this place bc i believe everyone needs portraits of themselves at the age they are right now. next i want to go with a future partner and see what we can...
