Today I purchased a beautiful knitted skirt set that I saw in the window simply because the set overall it was about $24. When I asked to see the set a woman with heavy accent immediately said “it’s too small it’s really really small” I replied “what are you saying? I’m too big to fit it?” She continued to try and convince me that the set is too small for me… I wear a woman’s 4-6 depending on the brand/cut. I asked her if we can check the size.. “There’s no size on this” she replied. Thankfully the Black man who works there was kind enough to help me and actually take the set off of the mannequin (because the lady was not going to). He offered for me to try it on and she immediately refused “No no my dogs are in the back room and they will bite because bad people come in here. You cant try it on.”

After being turned away and discouraged …again… the kind Black man held the skirt up to me and assured me that it would fit and it even stretches. I honestly already knew it would fit me bc I shop.. like..a lot but his comforting actions were appreciated after this woman rudely judged my body… she may be the owner of this establishment given how bold her statements were…. I only bought the piece still after her disrespect because it is truly beautiful and I have a pair of heels to pair it with. I shook the Black man’s hand as he walked me to the exit of the store. Im not sure what’s happened before at this store but absolutely no thifting establishment or boutique that I have walked into on Melrose has given me such distasteful treatmeant or out right told me I wouldnt be able to fit something not knowing me from Adam or Eve.

When I got in the car I checked the clothing for any tags… yall it’s literally a size Large. Crazy right? Regardless of if I couldve fit it or not you simply do not say these things to a customer let alone any individual. It’s very mean spirited. Unfortunately, I will never return to this store again because I didn’t deserve that. And yes I am Black…

Update: I just got home put the set on and it is in fact a bit baggy on me so I will need to get it tailored. Cute buy… very...

This place is very unprofessional. The owner of the establishment is a lady with two dogs. While there are no signs that say there are no dog welcome i have a dog that’s a service animal that was bit by one of her dogs. She claims to have a gate up that was no up until her dog came barked at my dog and bit my dog in the face. No I’m sorry nothing instead i was met with yelling and told not to return. Wouldn’t recommend this place either because they don’t buy...
