NEVER. AGAIN.

I had been coming here for YEARS and ordering about once a week until the woman who claims to be the owner was so insanely rude to me I promised her I would not only make sure it was known on every review platform possible but would never eat there again. I spend hundreds if not a few thousand on sushi a year and the treatment I received was just atrocious.

The previous TWO times I had ordered from them they had messed up my order so when I called and finished placing my order I asked her to please double check the order before they bagged it up. The whole time on the phone it was extremely loud in the background and she was acknowledging other people while attempting to take my order. When she read the order back to me it was wrong. I was attempting to correct her and tell her to please double check the order when they bag it and started to speak louder so she could hear me when she all of a sudden became very defensive and yelled โ€œyouโ€™re yelling at me and I donโ€™t deserve thisโ€ and hung up. Mind you it was her talking to other people the whole time, not getting my order right the last two times in a row, not reading the order back properly this phone cal, and telling me she couldnโ€™t hear me. I attempted to call back to which she hung up on me twice. The third time I asked to speak to the owner to which she claimed she was. I explained how often I eat there and how appalled I was that this is how she treats customer to which she laughed at me. I was so furious I hung up.

This sushi is too expensive for their staff, regardless of if it is an owner or not, to be this insanely rude to a loyal customer who was simply trying to make sure her order was right because it was wrong the previous two times and was also read back wrong.

I have found way better sushi places where you get more bang for your buck since this incident and they are all super welcoming as well as consistently correct with my order.

Crazy rockin at Santa Monica and la brea Studio sushi in studio city (well worth it) Niko Niko at la cienega and Santa Monica.

No one deserves that stress when paying good money for food and attempting to place a simple order. Shame on...

Murakami is our go to local sushi LA restaurant! Nothing beats the quality and the service. We found this through a Google search and we have never looked back. Every time we come it never disappoints. It's not as big as your usual chain sushi place, it's smaller and personable! The setting is quaint and good for first dates and group of friends! There is a sushi bar in the middle, and they do have a small patio outdoor seating.

The dishes and the sushi chefs are your local Rockstars! The waiting and seating staff is amazing too everyone is so kind and they care. You can tell by the quality of the fish from each bite.

Our go too and recommendations our: I love the OMG roll as a cut roll And if you love crispy rice I recommend that, I get the spicy tuna on top. Shishito, and Karage they have killer fried chicken! Spicy tuna in general the best, as a hand roll lover or as cut pieces you aren't missing out,...

If any of you look through the one star reviews, you'll find this store has an Obasan who looks like sheโ€™s in her fifties or sixties, possibly going through menopause, but she can be considered a disgrace to the Japanese service industry. Iโ€™ve been to Japan three times and have never seen such a rude and crazy waitress. If sheโ€™s an employee of this store, they should suggest her to retire, as she appears uneducated and only knows how to fawn over wealthy and white customers, but gives disdainful looks to those from China, Korea, or less affluent backgrounds. If sheโ€™s the store owner, I suggest she leave America. Otherwise, next time I will take a photo of her fake smile and ugly face and post it online. Iโ€™m serious, and I will be back to accompany you...

if you sit at the sushi bar at Murakami Sushi, alone with nothing to do but to enjoy food and observe the chefs working their magic, you will definitely have a wonderful experience. I had the mixed bowl that comes with albacore, tuna, salmon, shrimp, and yellowtail. after finishing it up, the sushi chef there really took to notice of my appetite for having one more piece of nigiri. he suggested kindly that I can also do only one piece since I had a bowl. which Ied me to trying out the kanpachi sushi, a type of yellowtail (which the chef explained to me as I was choosing). they also have a lunch menu if you want to come during lunch time as well.

Fast friendly service. We were given the VIP treatment. We ordered a variety of food, but my favorite was the Yellowtail collar fish. The warm sake was also a great first time experience. The staff was very welcoming and friendly providing us with constant attention. Our local family ordered their favorite foods and it was all delicious and cooked to perfection. They even brought us matcha ice-cream with a candle for well wishes on our journey home. Chef's kiss!
