DECEPTIVE PRICING buyer beware
I went to this Peddlerâs Mall location today and thought buying a little over $200 worth of items and driving an hour there and back would be a good time. Lo and behold it wasnât. You see, I had picked up some sweatpants from a cardboard box with a sign labeled â$1 đâ. I thought I was paying $3 for 3 pairs of pant Instead of $30! I drove all the way back to the store with the pants to make the return right away. The manager said it was $10 and insisted there were no returns. I explained the sign on the bin and said $1! She said, âsomeone mustâve put it in the wrong place.â I kindly said, âMaâam are you sure about that because-â and she cut me off. All the pairs in the bin were the same kind of pants so it couldnât have been misplaced. I pleaded for the manager to listen before I walked back to the booth, took a picture, and showed it to her and she matter-of-factly repeated, âIt says $10, I know that seller.â I explained that I mustâve missunderstood the sign and wanted to return the pants because I only wanted to pay $1 each for them.
She acted like I was rude in suggesting that and said âyouâre expecting me to just take money out of the vendorâs account?â Though I had originally placed it there! She suggested I âsell the pants to someone elseâ as if I have a store! It would be much easier for the vendor to sell them to someone else. The manager and a few cashiers present were quite hostile and rude towards me, acting as if I was causing a scene and being an irrational customer. âSo you canât see how I was tricked by this sign and this is deceptive pricing? It doesnât clearly state the price. I spent over $200 here today and spent gas to drive all the way back out here, youâre really not going to make this right?â At this point I nearly had tears in my eyes from embarrassment and hurt feelings. The manager pointed to the No Returns sign and then said âthereâs the door.â
I attached the photo so you can see for yourselves what the sign...
Read moreMy sister was in a car accident and suffers from some brain damage, this evening she was going to Wal-mart to exchange some things I had gotten for her a couple weeks ago. She had the things in her purse when she came in and did not have a receipt because I had purchased the clothing. I informed her she did not need a receipt to exchange. She told me, while upset and crying tonight, they stopped her at the door told her they seen her touch TOUCH her purse on the camera and told her the wanted the merchandise she had stole. She said she told the Lady the stuff was from Walmart. The woman told her they sold the exact same things there. Which I doubt!! She has trouble with confrontation and does not explain herself well at all. She said the woman than asked for the wal- mart receipt and when she didn't have it the woman took the socks, pants and 2 shirts from her and threatened to call the police if she didn't leave. She said the woman did this in front of a crowd of people and also made her empty her entire purse. In doing that she lost her Tarc transfer and was to scared to go back into the store to look for it. She didn't have her phone and didn't have any money with her so she walked home. To Berry Blvd!!!! I am livid!!!! I ask why she even went in there, she said she was curious on what all they had. She had never been in there! I will be calling the store in the morning. Is this how you treat people with disabilities? Especially this time of year?? The lady that did this to her needs to review the cameras again and my sister deserves a apology. I can buy her more clothes but I can not take away her hurt and embarrassment this has caused her. I am so ashamed of this store and there employees... I can not believe this even...
Read moreFor the last 5 years I have been coming here pretty regularly. I've never had a problem with my small backpack purse. It is smaller than a lot of bags, I carry it SPECIFICALLY because I know bag size can be an issue in some places. I also have a disability that I have to use a cane because of, and other issues. The bag I have is easiest for me to carry because it goes on my back and not on either side, I can be hands free, and is easy to take off to access my wallet among other things like medication. The last time I went, I immediately had a very rude lady at the front door telling me I can't come in because of my bag TYPE (backpack style with two straps) and I would have to leave it in my car. As I was leaving to go put my bag in the car, there was a woman wearing an actual full sized backpack much bigger than mine with one strap that went across her chest, and she was carrying a child. She was let in. I did not go back inside, as I was angry and disappointed. I felt like because she had a child she was given a pass.
This is not okay. If you're not careful, it could be seen as discrimination. Someone could have medical equipment that they need to carry with them in a bag that is easy for them to take on and off in case of emergency. The fact that it wasn't even the SIZE of the bag that was the issue, but the type of straps I had on it, is ridiculous.
Pictures for reference, the bag I had is 11" by almost 4.5" by 8"
I like to shop here, so I hope things improve. But I see a lot of customers are being...
