Ralphs Records — Local services in Lubbock

I love this place. If you are visiting Lubbock and are a music lover, make sure you put this place on your must visit list! Ralph's has been around forever and it's their staff plus their endless and varied collection of vinyl that make them so special. Not to mention the cute terrier named "Bill Murray" who hangs out behind the counter. No, I went to Ralph's because I knew the staff would know what I did not -which jazz records I should get for my nephew. My nephew got a scholarship for the trombone to Texas Tech and I don't know anything about jazz trombone. Sure enough, I went into the store and asked the musician behind the counter for some recommendations for jazz albums for my nephew and he went around the store and gathered a lovely collection for me. Prices ranged from $8-$40 and he was able to describe why I would select each album. I was impressed. I bought the recommended records and gave them to my nephew later that day at his birthday party. No longer spending anymore money here. I have spent so much money here over my childhood through adult life. Just to be treated as if I'm trying to steal or an annoyance to their work lives. I am an avid pokemon card collector and have a very unmistakable appearance. Every time I come into l into the store to look at Pokemon cards the guys pull out the binders, stand about a foot away, and watch me look at Pokemon cards the entire time as if I don't REGULARLY come in and buy cards. The owner has gotten rude with me before about asking to look at cards. Meanwhile my Vietnamese wife has come into the store several times by herself to look at cards for me while I'm away for work and has NEVER been watched so closely by them. They literally pull out the cards and walk away. You should NEVER feel like this at a hobby store. I have spent so much money there between retro gaming, concert tickets, and collectables and regret having spent ANY money with these people. Mint 10 collectables will receiving my money from now on. I used to love going to Ralph's. But after one incident I will never shop there again. I purchased a CD for $4.00 from them. Paid and left the store before checking to see if the CD was even there. I got out to my car excited to give the CD as a gift, open it up and no CD was there. I took the CD back in the store told a staff member what happened and was told hmmm I guess someone had sticky fingers. The way he said it to me I felt he was referring to me.I was given my money back. Me and my son went there again a following time and we were watched thru the whole store. Wherever we went or looked a staff member was either watching us or going thru stuff we had already looked at.I did purchase items that day also but I felt like I was guility of something when I was in the store and when I left.Why would I steal a $4.00 dollar CD?
