What started as a great experience was completely ruined by the unprofessional staff and management. My party was very excited to try the Sushi and Hot Pot, and we wanted the all-you-can-eat option. When you are handed a menu, there is a large section that explains how a food waste charge will be applied to your bill for each pound of food remaining on the table at the end of your 2hr time limit, which is understandable and we were prepared for that. Once we were seated our waitress explained how the ordering worked and got our drinks. When we asked about the food waste charge, she said it was more for entire plates left or whole sushi rolls uneaten and that a modest amount leftover at the end would just be overlooked. She also said we could choose to take some of the leftover food home in to-go containers. We placed our orders and began receiving food. There were several mixups with what came out. Some items not delivered, and some items brought to the table that were not ordered. We immediately informed our waitress of the mixup and she brought the items that were missing in a timely manner, and told us not to worry about the items that were not ordered. We ate and really enjoyed everything we had. When we were finished, we asked for our check and were asked if we would like any to-go containers. As there was some leftover sushi (some of which was part of a roll we didn’t order) we asked for a container and put approximately 9 pieces of sushi in the box. At this point we handed our cards and tickets to the waitress. She came back a minute or so later with a food scale and 2nd waitress. The 2nd waitress weighed our to-go container at the table and informed us that she would be applying the food waste charge for the weight of the container as well as a charge for the estimated weight of the meat left on the table to our ticket. We told her that the majority of the meat left on the table was part of food that was not ordered, and even some of the sushi inside our container was not ordered. She went to speak with her manager and came back to tell us that she will be applying the charge regardless. As we began asking about how exactly they determined the charge that would be applied, the manager came to the table and began arguing with us about why we were being charged extra and began talking in circles, explaining the same things over and over. She did not raise her voice, or act in an inappropriate manner, but she did continue arguing the point incessantly, even after being reminded multiple times that the majority of the leftovers were from food that we didn’t order and that her waitress blatantly told us that we would not be charged extra. Once the argument had ended and she took our cards to be charged, she continued to try to explain the reason for the charge, once again not raising her voice or using any profanity, but endlessly stating the same things over and over. We asked her to leave our table and charge our cards and let us leave this restaurant. In the end she removed the additional charges and let us leave, but the damage was done. We will never return to Momotaro, which is a shame, because we really had a good time that was unfortunately ruined by very poor communication, lies, and a manager who simply did not know when to shut up.

We had dinner here around 7:30 on 3/5. We were warmly welcomed and immediately seated. Our server very thoroughly explained the details of the hot pot and how to order. We chose our broths and items for the hot pot, and I got the Tesla roll, the Momotaro roll, and tempura zucchini, shrimp, crab, and mushrooms as well. The fatty beef cooked in the hot pot was a huge hit for both of us. Next time we will definitely order more of that and less of the other items. All of the tempura items were cooked perfectly and tasted great. And the rolls were some of the best sushi I’ve had in Lubbock. We enjoyed a delicious meal, finished it off with tasty ice cream, and overall we had a good time!

Starting off the appetizers came out fast and were quite large and presentable and they had very bold flavors as I progressed in my meal they presentation got even better with the plate of nigiri coming out looking phenomenal but that’s where the perfection ended The salmon was great as was the Smoked salmon but the quality of the other fish was lacking specially the white tuna and snapper the flavor was good and the cuts were good but the quality of fish was lacking but at 19.99 a person it’s to be expected Overall good but had the quality of fish been better it would have received a 5/5 instead of a 4/5

Once upon a time, in the heart of Lubbock, I found myself face-to-face with a challenge of legendary proportions. No, not a fire-breathing dragon, nor a labyrinth of doom—this was something far more fearsome. It was the all-you-can-eat menu at Momotaro.

Armed with only a pair of chopsticks and an unyielding hunger, I took my seat at the battlefield (also known as a very nice, clean table). Before me lay an endless parade of sushi rolls, crispy tempura, and steaming bowls of hot pot, each dish more tempting than the last. Could I conquer this mountain of deliciousness? Or would I, like so many before me, fall victim to the tragic fate of “just one more bite”?

The first wave was easy—beautifully crafted sushi that practically melted in my mouth. “I can do this,” I whispered, confidence soaring. Then came the tempura, golden and crispy, and I pressed forward, undeterred. But then… the real test. The never-ending stream of food. Every time I thought I was nearing the summit, another plate arrived, carried by the ever-smiling, slightly-too-knowing waitstaff.

My stomach groaned, my chopsticks shook, but I refused to surrender. Like a true warrior, I dug deep, channeling the strength of diners before me. I even saved room for dessert—because what kind of hero skips mochi ice cream?

As I leaned back, victorious yet humbled, the staff cheered (or maybe they were just laughing at my food coma). Either way, I had done it—I had conquered Momotaro, and I would live to tell the tale.

Would I do it again? Absolutely. Five stars. 10/10. A meal fit for a warrior, a dream for a foodie, and a challenge for anyone who dares to...
