I hate Brookshire Bros. They're overpriced, hardly has anything I'm looking for,the produce is horrible,I've learned I now go to HEB for produce. I'm sick and tired of buying bad fruit from Brookshire. I bought 2 pkgs of strawberries o could only save about 6 in each pkg. The top looked good but in between they were all rotten. Then bought a watermelon, the freaking thing wasn't even riped,I was so mad. Went to get some candied fruit, and they told me it was seasonal. Really no one bakes with candies fruit but at Christmas time? That is ridiculous,I make cannolli's and other fruit breads and need candied fruit. Lufkin stores are horrible they never have anything you want and Brookshires is at the top of my list. Will only go in emergencies. Wal-Mart is not my favorite but at least it's cheaper and I can find what I need. I have had so many problems with Brookshire bros. Bought a chicken to make for dinner after work because I forgot to take mine out of freezer to thaw. When I got home the fan chicken was still frozen and I couldn't make dinner because it had to thaw. If i want to pick up a chicken to make for dinner it should be thawed. THAT IS WHY I WENT THERE TO GET A THAWED CHICKEN NOT...

No clue what it was. IF it was a breast they split it so basically I got one breast not two. Very little meat, all bones of some kind. Next piece was one that looked like a big chicken nugget, inside was that one little bone...one more mystery piece. Last one was another that looked like another big nugget. After peeling off what meat was on it I could not IDENTIFY what part of the chicken (if it's chicken) it was. 3 pieces and no ides what it was. In the bag it appears I do have two legs and two wings. Those first pieces NO CLUE. what type of chicken are you pushing on us? Is it chicken or some kind of mystery bird meat you got really cheap? It had been awhile since I bought any fried chicken from yall, to me up till now it was the best tasting. The taste was even off. Very...
Read moreOne of the things with living in the south is a feeling of missing out on the "family" and "personal" atmosphere that comes with having a neighborhood grocery store.
Even though ( from our research ) it shows that these grocery stores are a chain found through out the midwest, I can 100% guarantee you will not find one in the south east region. What you will find are walmarts as far as the eye can see. This is a shame, because what's being introduced now in that region are overpriced grocery chains like publix or fresh market. So basically what's being missed is the in-between.
The items are stocked well, the customer service was friendly, the bodega was cooking foods of all types creating a wafting smell of something good cooking in the kitchen.
In not too many words, brookshire brothers...
