Lula Grocery — Local services in Lula

It is the only downtown grocery-stop besides the Dollar General located 3 miles away at the corner of Hwy 52 and Hwy 365. It offers basic household items in all categories, from laundry to dishes to cleaning supplies. It offer some fruits, not always pristine. Usually, bananas and apples. It sells basic fresh produce such as lettuce, tomato, and onions. They sell carry-out large/one-size Hunt's Brothers pizza starting at 9.99 with an all-you-can-add topping slogan, which is really good for a quick dinner. You can call and order first. Still small town...very trustworthy. You just call and they make it, without the long questionaire. Awesome! They sell frozen items, ice cream, and coffee too. It is a local shop with friendly folks. It works well for the Lula area, and they stay opened until 10pm, but pizza cut-off time to order is 9pm. The major downfall is the pricing. The store is a little expensive, but that falls into the need-easy access relationship and the downtown walking area monopoly of the same category services. My husband and I were house/dog sitting for friends and we were both a little under the weather so I didn't want to have to drive to Cornelia or Gainesville for dinner. I stopped in at Lula Grocery to see if they had ground beef for a quick dinner fix. I was surprised that this little gem also had fresh tomatoes, lettuce, onions & potatoes. They also had a little grill in the back that made fresh take out, chicken and Hunt's Brothers Pizza. I couldn't pass it up so I got a pizza to go as well. Food not safe to eat!!!!! Long hair in my morning biscuit!!! Twice!!! Never going back, and will be reporting this business for the workers obviously not wearing hair nets. Also, chicken in biscuit was obviously reheated from the day before, as it was chewy and had changed color and texture. If you eat this food, please take yourself to the hospital as fast as you can.
