Avoid Sama Builders at All Costs!
Hiring Sama Builders for our home remodeling project has been the single worst decision we've ever made. My pregnant wife and I signed a contract with this company, owned by Hossein, in late April 2023. The promise was simple: complete the remodeling of our new house by the end of July. What followed was a nightmare of missed deadlines, unfulfilled promises, and outright deception.
Hossein initially pushed the completion date to the end of August, then to October, and by December 5th, 2023, he hadn't even completed half of the work. We had no choice but to fire him. Communication with Hossein is a joke—he's unresponsive to calls, texts, and emails unless it's time to collect payment. His only consistency lies in his inconsistency.
Hossein has lied to us repeatedly, making false promises about finishing the work that never materialized. His list of excuses for delays is as long as the list of unfinished tasks in our home. To make matters worse, most of his subcontractors are disgruntled because he doesn't pay them on time, if at all. His foreman walked off the job halfway through because of unpaid wages, and one subcontractor even reached out to us in distress. Hossein had the audacity to submit a fake transaction receipt to this subcontractor, claiming he had paid him.
The situation became so dire that another one of Hossein’s clients contacted us. This individual shared a similar story of being duped—Hossein took a 50% deposit and hadn’t started work for over two months. This client was considering legal action and invited us to join as co-plaintiffs. That’s how bad it is.
Hossein is also extremely rude and unprofessional. On several occasions, he yelled at my wife and me over the phone when we questioned him about the missed deadlines. This kind of behavior is unacceptable from anyone, let alone someone you're paying a small fortune to.
To add insult to injury, Hossein and his company have received several violation tickets from the Department of Consumer Affairs, NJ. The writing is on the wall—Sama Builders is a company that should be avoided at all costs. My wife and I were left so disillusioned that we took over the project ourselves, hiring our own subcontractors and finishing the work on our own terms.
Sama Builders took over 65% of the total project cost and delivered barely 20% of the promised work. We cannot emphasize this enough—stay away from Hossein and Sama Builders with a ten-foot pole. This has been an incredibly disappointing and stressful experience. Do yourself a favor and...
Read moreWhere should I start with this company? SAMA Builders was hired to do a 1000 sq feet addition to my home and it was the worst management of a project and crew (not blaming crew because they operated under Hossein's direction - or lack there of)! We signed a contract in October 2021 to have our addition done in 3 to 5 months. It took them 7 months to get half way. The crew only showed up one or two days out of the week. Some weeks no-one showed up at all. Call him and he promise that the crew will be there no one shows up until couple days later. THAT IS IF HE ANSWERED THE CALL . He was never available to discuss project progress or to help answer any questions or address any concerns. We only heard from him on rare occasions -like when the time came to collect his check. I remember they took my roof off and it took them two months to get a roof back on my house. It rained, snow, ice and wind in the middle of February. He knew we planned on living in the home during construction and promised a speedy process with great efforts to maintain a decent living condition. He promised to tarp off the living area we stayed in separately from the construction area but I came home one day to dusty demolition dust everywhere. I had to buy my own tarp and separate the renovation area from my living area. When I called to ask him about this he ignored my calls and texts. That was the 1st of many ignored texts and calls. I had my kids in the house but there was no care nor consideration for us. We ended up with so much unnecessary stress and anger. It was hard to watch our children suffer like this as the project dragged out so long. I believe it was all about how much jobs he can have his crew bounce from one job to the next. If I could take it all back I never would have hired this company. I see all these reviews about the quality work that was done but none of them are specific with details on what type of work was done. FYI 7 months into the project (with only framing and rough in of plumbing and electrical) he requested more money to continue work beyond what contract stated. WE refused and we parted ways. PROJECT WAS NEVER COMPLETED BY HOSSEIN OF...
Read moreI am writing this review three months after making the last payment to Sama Builders for a major renovation project of our new house.
I have spent 3 months patiently waiting for their team to finish their unfinished work, to no avail. Finally, I write this as an extremely disappointed customer.
Following was my experience with Hossain- Communication- always available when it comes to signing a contract and following up for payment milestones. But not when you call to follow up on the status of the projects and to escalate any issues. The only thing that happened on time with our project was the demolition. Because that helps lock in the job and the first payment. Organization - extremely poor organization. There was a 3 month delay in completing our project (in a very shabby way)- materials were not ordered on time, there were days and weeks when there was no progress made (nobody would come to the house, and we were remotely updated that some work was done) Poor quality of work and lack of attention to details- Not at all focused on ensuring the right quality of work. Their work looks sloppy all over. We have cabinets that are coming off hinges (in 3 months) , bath tub that is not draining, kitchen crown moulding that was missing at places, ceiling that was leaking because AC pipes were not connected, switchboards that are not covered and doors without moulding around them. He gives his subcontractor’s number to follow up on any work and then both of them point fingers at each other and avoid our calls. Overall, I would strongly encourage people to do their due diligence in handing any major project to...
