TRACI IS RACIST and UNPROFESSIONAL! I usually don’t write reviews but I drove from Boston to Lynn for a dermal panning appointment at Beauty & Inc Studios, and was incredibly disappointed in how I was treated. For context, I purchased two facials via Groupon—both of which were scheduled with Traci, the owner of Beauty & Inc Studios. Upon purchasing the Groupon, I made several attempts to reach out to Traci to schedule my appointment(s)—it took over a month for me to finally make an appointment. Upon my arrival at Beauty & Inc Studios, I entered the facility where I saw Traci on her laptop. She did not welcome me nor did she give me eye contact; instead, she rudely directed me across the room stating “your paperwork is over there.”

Prior to completing the paperwork, I asked Traci it was okay for me to park outside as it was my first time at the location and noticed an ambiguous sign about parking. Traci gave me a blank stare and brought her attention back to her laptop. I then proceeded to complete my paperwork. After completing such, Traci came over to review my paperwork. She flipped through the several sheets before she got to the last page which was a photo release form. The entire interaction was awkward as Traci still had not uttered a word to me. Upon realizing that I signed every sheet except the photo release form, Traci mumbled “you have to sign this,” and pushed the paperwork towards me. I informed her that I did not want my photo taken as I not particularly comfortable with my skin at the moment, but more importantly, I didn’t want my photo distributed all over the internet. After explaining such reasons to Traci, she became furious and proceeded to yell, stating that she would not do my facial if I did not sign the photo release form. According to Traci, all of her clients are required to sign the form for insurances purposes; however, that was not stated anywhere on the form and it became clear to me that Traci wanted to use my photos to promote her business. I reiterated to Traci that I did not feel comfortable taking photos which only made her more furious as she demanded me to sign the photo release form.

The longer I sat, the more I realized that Traci simply did not want to do my facial. She continued to yell, stating “you cancelled your first appointment and now you are trying to tell me how to run my business.” It was then that it occurred to me that Traci was upset about a previous cancellation that I had made prior due to a family emergency. This, however, does not justify Traci’s unprofessionalism as I informed Traci as soon as I knew I wouldn’t make it, and apologized. After that initial appointment, it took three weeks to get in touch with Traci. When we finally found a date that worked, Traci canceled on me the day before stating she had a family emergency, which I completely understood. However, it finally occurred to me that perhaps Traci was behaving this way (unjustifiably) because of my initial request to reschedule. Nonetheless, when I made it clear that I would not sign the photo release form, Traci stormed towards me and grabbed the paperwork, telling me to “Get out.” After failing to coerce me into signing the photo release form, the conversation quickly escalated with Traci telling me that she would call the cops on me if I not did leave. I asked her what was the rationale for calling the police on me considering that I had done nothing wrong but instead she continued to threaten me. “Is it because I’m black?” I asked. Traci did not answer, but her behavior, specifically her lack of professionalism, suggested so. I was the only Black woman in the facility.

If you don’t identify as Black or a POC, please be cognizant of the threats you make, particularly as it pertains to calling the police on black people for minor issues. Traci was a belligerent, unfriendly, and condescending BULLY. I felt disrespected, unwelcomed, and unsafe. I would not recommend going to Beauty & Inc Studios.Take this as a warning to go elsewhere for your facial and spa needs, especially if...

I couldn’t agree with Kayla Gordon more!! Much of her experience was the same as mine!! Traci may be good at what she does but she is a BULLY!! She was an hour late for my appointment and when I called her she told me that my appointment wasn’t at the time I said! When she did get there and told her I could show her the texts that she sent she immediately copped an attitude. We went into her office, she turned the light on and told me to wait here with an attitude! I waited a good seven or eight minutes while she took her coat off and turned some lights on and finally came out with some paperwork for me to fill out. Once I finished with the paperwork, I walked up to the window and said I was finished, once again I waited another three or four minutes before she came and got it. Please keep in mind, that there was nobody else in that office doing any kind of procedures nor any other people there to get a procedure. Once we went over the paperwork, we went into her office and she began my procedure. Once finished I paid her, and she charged me the full price and didn’t honor the discount that she told me I would get!!

Then when trying to set up an appointment for a follow up when my time frames didn’t fit into hers she once again copped an attitude. She went back-and-forth with text messages with me and was unwilling to help find a time that accommodated my work schedule. Her texts were so UNPROFESSIONAL! When it comes to Traci everything is about Traci and what Traci wants when Traci wants it. She’s rude, she’s ignorant, and she is a horrible businesswoman! And to top it all off once I told her that she didn’t honor the discount that she told me I would get she sent me some phony receipt for $100 more and it wasn’t even for the procedure that I got. And please keep in mind that there was nothing on her website that was in the amount that she sent me the receipt for.

I’m willing to bet that most all of the reviews on here are from her friends and not true clients! I would not recommend Traci to anyone! There are plenty of people out there that do the same things that she does and do just as good a job if not better. So in closing buyer beware when dealing with Traci at beauty and Ink studio!

Traci, your response falls nothing short of what I would expect from you!! You refused to look at the texts that you sent me! I was far from afraid of being late for my appointment! Just because you couldn't remember the time you told me and then lied to boot!

I did find someone that was just as good as you if not better and who also was very PROFESSIONAL and KIND and knew how to run a successful business and how to treat their clients without BULLYING them!

There's not a doubt in my mind that you will respond to this because you always have to have the last word!

GROW UP!

I find it quite ironic that for every negative review she has a come back of ALWAYS having to be right. How sad! Does anyone else see this as...

If you are looking to get into the permanent make-up industry Beauty & Ink is the school you NEED to go to! Traci is amazing, she has so much knowledge & experience & she shares all of it with her students. I had spoken with several other schools & none of them gave me the information & details like she did. Traci is so passionate about what she does & she projects that onto all of her students. She takes the time & effort to show you the ins & outs of permanent make-up & building your business. The studio is so beautiful, clean & welcoming. The curriculum is packed full with all the necessary information needed for us to flourish in this industry. Traci genuinely wants each of us to succeed & she helps with every step along the way. Traci isn't just an amazing teacher, artist & business owner, she is also an amazing person. She is kind, caring & has such a great heart. I am so lucky to have met Traci & to have been able to join this...
