Killdare Haunted City — Local services in Lyons Township

Every year we wait for October and each weekend we do haunted houses. It’s our thing, and because of that we are spoiled and it takes a lot to impress us. I found this haunted house online and the reviews were pretty good so we decided to try it out. Initially pulling up, we were thrown off, the haunted house itself is behind where you park and purchase tickets. If you don’t buy tickets online, you have to go inside this park district building to purchase and it almost seems like you are going to a school function haunted house. I feel it would be better if they had some sort of shed or structure selling tickets right outside where you walk in instead of going in that building because it does throw off the vibe. We did almost turn around because we thought it was going to be lame.That is the only negative thing I can say about this haunt. Anyways once you get past that you take a short walk and it is a really cool experience the fog pouring in to the beginning really sets the vibe. I don’t want to give anything away but this place had many things other places do not. It was on the shorter side, maybe about 25-30 mins to go through (but again I said we are spoiled, we just went to dungeon of doom which is about an hour haunt). We were very impressed with Killdare, many actors, many cool set ups. I loved how you are going in and out of many different structures. This was different and well worth it. We spoke to someone after the haunt and I believe he said this was their fourth year open, I can only imagine how huge this place will be in the next 5 years. This will be a place we will likely continue to visit each year as you can tell their art and creation is different from the rest. I have been coming to Bridgeview Park Districts haunted house since I was a small child and it was in the strip mall... I grew up. Got married (on Halloween) and never looked back until last night. My husband surprised me for our anniversary and took me to the NEW UPDATED UPGRADED Kildare Haunted City! I was immediately flooded with a lifetime of feels and memories!!! I am BEYOND pleased, and PROUD of where and what the haunted house has become! The actors were PHENOMENAL!!! Even the gentleman collecting the tickets was SO on point he allowed my husband and it to go alone in our "group." He didn't even KNOW it was our anniversary and some how made it extra special for me!!!! The little girl actress reminded me of myself long ago, so serious about her job, and her character! My favorite was EVERYTHING but I would DEFINITELY day they scariest part for me was at the end in the trailer. I WILL be bring my entire bloodline back next years so they can call see how far its come over the years!!!! I was so moved and pleased with all of the hard work I am considering volunteering to help out next year!!! I am so proud. My grandmother JoAnn Maciag would be so proud if she were here to see it. And it know, in my heart of hearts all my Bridgeview ancestors were there with me last night to see all of your in all of your glory!!!! And to you, Killdare Haunted City, and to all of your actors, workers, and supporters I say THANK YOU! This is one of those hidden gems you hope to find one day. I took my little sister here (she’s been to every single haunted house in Illinois but hadn’t heard of this one) and we were excited to try something new, and fairly close to where we live. We had tapered expectations, and I was thinking it would be lower budget but as long as my sis enjoyed, I would be happy. This surpassed any and all expectations! The actors, the decorations, the design and creativity were better than any of the haunted houses I’ve been to! They had so much going on and absolutely loved going through the forest scares then into an awesomely designed haunted maze that takes you through so many different obstacles full of talented actors scaring you throughout…personally loved going thru a bus into a haunted trailer park!
