I normally have a decent experience at this theater. My husband and I frequent it, often with all 4 of our children. I was very disappointed tonight. The movie was fine. Saw "Kong". Loved it. After the movie was over though, my husband and I stayed behind because we knew there would be a scene after the credits and waited patiently. The staff came in and turned on the lights, not just dimmed, but all the way up so it was hard to see the screen. Then they started letting people in for the next showing all while the credits were still rolling. When the scene did come, I could barely see it and the experience ruined. Not the mention the people sitting behind us that hadn't even seen the movie yet that got "see" (well mostly just hear) the spoiler-like scene. When we left, we complained to the manager on duty. He told us they "had to" because of safety reason. We knew this was a lie because we were the only people left in the theater as everyone else had already walked out while it was still dark. I have also been to several movie at the theater where they had after credit scenes, and they never turned the lights all the way up before so there is no what this is standard policy. Then the manger told us that we could just "YouTube it". That is the rudest comment they could have made. We don't expect special treatment, nor did we want some sort of compensation, but we did want to feel like we where valued customers and maybe get an apology for the inconvenience or an assurance that they would attempt to be more considerate in the future. Not a rude dismissal. I guess we will now be driving to Galesburg to watch movies. I don't appreciate being talked down to...
Read moreI can't begin to tell you the disappointment and unprofessional attitude I observed tonight. about 8:30 I went to the main lobby for a refill on my drink. I encountered an unlit concessions counter, completely dark. no bell no signage directing me as to where the staff was or how to get a refill. I walked around the food are looking different directions..... nothing. I did the unexpected. I went behind the counter and got my own refill. it was the and only then I saw an employee approach me angry and irritated as all get out. he sternly corrected me "Don't ever do that again", he scolded! I told him I waited for service and looked around and no one came. There was no way to tell how I was supposed to get my refill. He stated "come to the office next time"!! excuse me? come find you? he then stated "would you do this somewhere else?" YES!! YES I WOULD!! ESPECIALLY, if there was no was for me to get a hold of someone!! when he said "come to the office next time, I thought... I didn't even know there was an office I was supposed to be looking for. why were the light off? why wasn't there a way (bell or signage) directing me as to what to do? I understand how it looks that I was behind the counter but what was I supposed to do? scream like an idiot? I'm so irritated with that little man. he identified himself as Dolton....
Read moreI've been to this theater several times over the course of my time at WIU, and I have mostly positive things to say. Prices are great and its a good theater, but recently there have been some playback issues. Last night I was there for the Return of the King 20th anniversary showing, and I had an amazing time. It was wonderful getting to see perhaps my favorite movie of all time on the big screen! Near the end of the movie however, the movie would start slowing down and skipping. It ended up fixing itself, but this isn't the first time that this has happened at this theater. The movie last night also started without sound, and someone had to come in and fix it. These issues are starting to become a trend. I always feel like about 50% of the time I go, there is always some playback issue, whether it be the movie going to slow motion skipping, or it begins playing without video. Thankfully, the employees are great at fixing these issues.
Overall, I have generally good things to say about the Rialto, and I will definitely be back, but I feel like things maybe a few things need updated to resolve the various playback issues that have...
