Had a very unpleasant experience here.
My fiance and I came in because of an advertisement for a ring she thought would be perfect for her engagement ring. The games that were played with pricing and deflection (the shop owner was already talking about bridesmaids gifts before we even had details out on the table for the engagement ring) was ridiculous. She had my fiance hooked with her nice personality and grandiose stories, which is why I left her out of subsequent visits (hey, I was the one paying for it).
The setting itself varied in price from $4,500 on an initial quote, down to $2,500, down to a neat $1,000 that fit "perfectly" in our budget (We eventually found the setting's designer's website - so much for "custom to our store" - where we could order it ourselves for $950). The diamonds she showed us were of terrible quality (L color and worse, at least 2 visible imperfections on all of them) and the prices (I verified with several jewelers we know) were 2-3 times "normal."
Needless to say, we went elsewhere.
It's a very small shop. I never saw another customer during my 3-4 visits. Keep that in mind, as stores this small rely on moving a small amount of volume at high profit margins (speculation, but accurate given the information we had at hand).
I'd say it's worth avoiding entirely - there's much better custom at much more reasonable prices at just about any other jewelry store you can think of, and you'll avoid the guilt-trip sales...
Read moreMy (now) husband bought my engagement ring at Boris Litwin, beginning our lifelong relationship with an incredible, family-owned jeweler. Since that purchase (which, by the way, was custom, totally reasonably priced, and to-die-for), we have purchased our wedding bands, as well as gifts for both of our mothers, and my sister. BJ was such a sweetheart throughout the process - giving us a bottle of champagne when my husband bought my engagement ring, and even sending us a wedding gift!
The service is personal and totally customized to what you are looking for. BJ is very fair on prices, and the quality of the gemstones and jewelry speaks for itself. This is not a Zales or Kay Jewelers. If you are looking for run-of-the-mill and super cheap engagement rings, this isn't the place for you.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for a jeweler for life, and jewelry to match, Boris Litwin Jewelers is your place. We love it, and will keep going back, even though we now live...
Read moreAfter spending many weeks searching for a wedding band to match my engagement ring, I finally found one at Boris Litwin’s. Their jewelry selection is seriously impressive! Not only do they have beautiful pieces, but they are so unique. After striking out at several chain jewelry stores, it was such a relief to walk into Boris Litwin’s and see so many options with personality. In addition, the owner, BJ, was a dream to work with! She is spunky, genuine, and incredibly knowledgeable. She went above and beyond to help me customize my wedding and engagement rings to fit together as if they had been bought as a set. She was full of helpful suggestions and worked with me every step of the way to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. I couldn’t be happier with my experience there, definitely the best boutique jewelry store...
