Wow wow wow is all I can say! We are BEYOND blessed to have The Winchester Farm Exchange in our community! FINALLY I can buy 90% of my groceries from LOCAL Farmers, supporting local economy and feeding my family more nutritious food! THAT you can’t put a price to. But speaking of prices… my entire weekly grocery bill at the Exchange was the same as shopping at Kroger. They’re working hard to keep prices comparable for us. Yes, I will be doing my weekly grocery shopping there… only needing to get a few items like paper products at another store. I was blown away by the extensive selection of meats and produce they offer. Honestly a larger meat selection than our other local retailers. Thankful they’re staying open a little later in the evening (7pm) for those of us who work and don’t get off until 5. Still some time to run over and pick up items for dinner that night. And not to mention the way the exchange is bringing the community together. When you walk in, you immediately feel at home like it’s a place you want to linger and talk to your neighbors… Chelsie and Trisha… you knocked it out of the park! And you’re only just getting started! Excited for all that the future holds as you continue to grow and expand with the non-profit side of this concept as well! If I could have given it a 10 star, I would! Can’t recommend it enough!!!! (A pic of my son enjoying a giant chocolate marshmallow he got at the Exchange, as a sweet treat...
Read moreVisited the store with excitement, new to the area and I love supporting local businesses. The store wasn't busy, walked in looking to spend mulah. I'm not one of those persons who desires attention, but not one word spoken to me, no acknowledgement. At first I thought they're young, and perhaps they do not understand the importance of welcoming folks when they walk in your establishment. Its helps with customer service, and is a deterrent to theft. Well I proceeded to shop, Wow! They have AWESOME salad mixes, honey, jams, breads, you name it. But when several other person walked into the store and they were greeted with warm smiles and welcomes, I felt some type of way. I thought I know they see me, but still NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. I politely put back all my items and spent my money next door at Wigwam for some late breakfast. It probably doesn't matter to them, BUT I WILL NEVE visit again. Too bad such...
Read moreI visited today for the first time and was happy with the variety of locally sourced items. I was not happy that all the meat was frozen. The prices on the meat was outrageous for not being fresh. I may have paid the prices, had the meat not been frozen. The produce was equally higher priced. You can go to Witten's or Lynd's for cheaper produce that is also locally grown. I did pick up a couple pieces of salmon that were one of the cheaper items offered and they weren't frozen. I live 1 mile from here, but likely won't return.
Update: I made the salmon for dinner. It was delicious, but we felt it was no better in taste than the fresh/never frozen coho salmon from Aldi, which is half the price.
I hope this business does well, but in this economy, I don't see families being able to afford most items offered on a daily or...
