Updating to 1 star considering the absolute horrible and just outright mean service I received from the owner, Sarah.
(For those who don't want to read a long essay: in short, I was met with hostility when calling to address an issue. The owner of this shop lacks the emotional intelligence to empathize with customers and keep them coming back.)
My original post: "no swipe on the POS. How are we supposed to use gift cards?"
I felt the response to this review was condescending. The response is attached in a screenshot.
So, I called to speak to a manager to address this. Sarah answered the phone with "hello" . I asked who I was speaking with and she responded "the owner" after a brief pause she said her name. Already starting off on the wrong foot.
I called to address a problem and was addressed with an even bigger problem-crummy attitude from the OWNER. I called to explain that I didn't appreciate the condescending response and was just met with more condescending responses and an owner who just wanted to argue with me instead of take responsibility and make it right. This issue could have been resolved in multiple different ways. "So sorry you had that experience, I feel I'm loosing your business with a refund, what about a free coffee?" Is one example. Saying things like "hm. Interesting" and "i don't think so" are not how you respond to an upset customer. You. Just. Take. Responsibility. And move on. Arguing with the customer just makes everyone's day worse.
Instead Sarah decided since I was audibly upset by her response and the way she was handling my second attempt to express my frustration..she was not going to give me a refund at all.
Honestly, I Wasn't that upset over the gift card not working, but once I'm met with hostility then I have a problem.
When I finally was fed up I said I would not come back, dispute the charge with my credit card and leave another review she said "I'll be waiting to respond".
I've been in the restaurant industry for years and this was the worst experience I've ever had with a restaurant owner.

This is my favorite coffee shop and the owner is one of the kindest people I’ve ever encountered! On Sundays & Mondays we always try new places -Das, Porters, Staufs, 7 Brew, L City, True North… there are countless wonderful little shops in central Ohio. We’re blessed! But there’s a reason why Tues-Sat we return to COH. So many options and varieties of drinks, food, and desserts. A clean, comfortable environment with great ambiance. Games to play! A few items from local vendors. Friendly people! I’m sad to see someone respond with a 1 star review out of their own inconvenience that really wasn’t due to any fault of COH. I looked at the complaint and her screenshot and I didn’t see anything wrong with the response. If this person has truly been in a restaurant business for years they should have more grace and understanding over something so trivial. Small business owners have it hard enough without people giving knee jerk reactions that could negatively affect their business. I found it funny you assumed my issue is some refund? With "My wife"? This ladies issue is she assumes she has every answer all the time. I dont know what I found more concerning the fact that she assumed my issue was connected to something else she was dealing with or that she is so crass to call out someone else's issue while neglecting mine entirely.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this very rude lady.
P.S my wife has been dead since June 4th of 2020 so do yourself a favor and think before you type.
