Update. Something has changed for the worse. Consistently, even 4 years after the Covid situation, it's becoming hit or miss for things being in stock. The produce has more wilt. Increasingly aisles are blocked by staff who don't notice customers trying to get through. But the worst is checkout. Other stores have tightened down due to theft without it becoming a total logjam and this store needs to take note. If you so much as move a bag - the register locks up. If you scan just a bit too fast - the register locks up. If it's a lightweight item - the register locks up. Which brings me to the next point - the staff need to pay attention. Tonight there front aisle was clogged with shoppers waiting to check out. 4 of 8 registers were flashing (1 of the cashiers and 3 of the self check.) The person supposedly monitoring the self check area (which was 7 people deep waiting to check out) was having an extended social conversation with a woman and not remotely aware the registers were flashing until another customer complained. Over the last few months, it has come up in casual conversations among family and friends - the sentiment is "avoid Giant if you can... go to WalMart if you have to."
We've lived in the area for 25 years. It's all about the local manager. This store is great. It's well stocked, and has lots of speciality items. Especially if you like central american cuisine. The lines move quickly and the staff are friendly. It's clean, well-lit and the produce is never wilted. I really find it ironic that our "budget" grocery stores seem to be better quality than the "high end" ones a couple miles away. I come here first. Kudos to their meat section. If you can't find it, ring the bell, or even just stand there for a few moments looking confused, and someone...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStephen in the Deli acts like he's on drugs. He made the lady before us roll her eyes at him with his strange behaviors and then when it was our turn he continued to walk to the back as if he needed to find ALL OF THE DELI MEATS back there. He would disappear for several minutes for each new request of deli meat, only to return empty handed and act very strange and completely ignore what I said. If I said 6 slices he would repeat back "so you want 4?" It was absolutely ridiculous and a waste of time. If he doesn't like working there then please don't as there are plenty of very pleasant people already working at this location. I seriously hope someone will intervene and offer some help if that's what he needs but his actions are unnecessary at the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis store is very annoying to shop at. The frozen foods is on the opposite side of the store from the cold foods and dairy items. The self checkout is the worst. Giantās self checkout is the reason I donāt shop at Giant often at all. I donāt have problems at other storesā self checkouts. Only Giant stores. I scan the item, put the item down, and it still says an associate has to come verify. Forget using your own bags, thatās a whole other trial and tribulation. I put in how many bags I have, put the bag down, and it says an associate has to verify. Then the rude associate comes over and says ādid you press that you had your own bags?ā Yes! Of course I did! Iāll just stick to Safeway and Target geez. Iām just upset by the time Iām done...
