Our black lab puppy went here from Feb 2022 - Aug 2022, she went typically 3-4 days a week as we wanted her to have some play time while we were at work opposed to being crated all day. Within the first month she got kennel cough, and I figured it happens with boarding / day care facilities, even though she is vaccinated. Then she would come home smelling like urine and you can feel a film on her coat. We asked the workers if she was rolling in something, but they weren’t sure and couldn’t really answer us, we had to essentially give her weekly baths because of this.
The final straw was this weekend; our pup was coughing, gagging, lethargic and running fever. We took her to the emergency vet and they did chest X-rays and come to find out she has pneumonia. 6 months of going to this daycare and this is the most I have every brought a dog to the vet for illnesses.
My husband went today (8/22/22) to see about being refunded for our remaining days (15 days) at the very least (and not asking for the $800, we just spent at the ER) and the staff member was visible uncomfortable when told about our dog getting so sick and all this within 6 months as there were other owners in the lobby, and stated they they had to talk to a manager about the refund. Hopefully we will hear back from someone.
The young staff seem to really love the dogs and our pup genuinely seemed to enjoy going there, which is why I am giving 2 stars; but management needs to ensure that the facility properly clean and sanitize their facilities to ensure that dogs are not passing these illnesses around.
We will not be sending her back to this facility as 2 major infections in just 6 months is too much and will look into other care options for while we are at work.
8/31/2022 UPDATE: They will not refund out 15 days, about $350 worth, they stated that all sales are final. The manager was annoyed about my husband even asking and stated that they are not responsible for dogs getting sick; They were not able to describe what they use for cleaning and disinfecting to prevent the spread of diseases. They also posted on their FB page about 30 minutes after my husband talked to them about kennel cough FAQ...
Read moreI’ve sent my dogs to many places throughout the last 25 years and The Dog Club, is simply the best. I evaluate dog day cares in three primary ways: Do they love dogs? Definitely yes. I ran into a staff member that I didn’t know on the street last weekend and he recognized my boy Jack and spent the next 20 minutes telling me how much he loved my dog. He told me that I really lucked out and that I had a very special dog, one in a million and on and on. And you know what, I loved every minute of it, I was proud of my dog and yes, I believed he was being absolutely 100% sincere. No one lies that well or for that long.
Does my dog love them? My dog loves everyone, he just loves that place and those people a little extra. He knows where he is going when I take him in the morning and he can’t wait to get there. And when we do finally arrive he jumps (not cool Jack!) on the first staff member he sees and treats them like they are his long lost owner that he miraculously is being reunited with after thinking he would never see them again. Yes, my dog loves them back twice as hard as you know how dogs do.
Do they treat me like they appreciate my business and treat me with common courtesy? They do actually and that’s so rare these days. Smiles on their faces when they see me and they are consistently friendly. I know they aren’t always having a good day, but they aren’t dumping their bad day on me. And the reason is simple; because that’s what people who are great at their jobs do, they treat the people that pay the bills with basic common courtesy and respect, regardless of how they’re feeling on a particular day. I believe they call that “professionalism”. Whether you are a partner at a big time, big city law firm making 20 million a year, or a 20 year old kid at a dog daycare making $20 an hour, that’s how the pros do it.
This Thanksgiving I’m thankful my sweet sensitive Border Collie is being loved and looked after by a team of professional dog lovers that deserve to be acknowledged. Thank you Dog Club and all the strangers working there for treating my dog as if he was your...
Read moreDo NOT bring your dog here!! This place is the equivalent of a puppy mill in daycare and boarding form!!
The owner only has one interest in mind and that’s taking your money and promising care for your pet that it doesn’t receive.
This place is severely understaffed, unsanitary and outright dangerous conditions for your pet as well as their staff!!
My pup went to daycare for two day’s, the last of which he was attacked in a playgroup with god only knows how many dogs and their sizes!! I was never called, emailed or notified of this incident!! I noticed the bite marks when I picked my pup up to put him in the car. My little boy was groomed a week prior to his first day at The Dog Club and he smelled horrible!! I checked the seat of my car to see if he pee’d due to nerves or his injury, and the seat was completely dry!! My dog was covered in another dog’s urine, and had feces in between his toes.
We went straight to the Emergency Vet, where they treated his flesh wounds and discovered the worst part, my pup contracted Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex and was admitted immediately!!
I called The Dog Club to get details of my pup being attacked. I was told that the staff wasn’t aware of anything happening, when I brought up the fact that my dog also contracted CIRDC, I was told that my pup most likely had Kennel Cough and it’s a common occurrence amongst daycares and boarding facilities, it’s similar to a common cold. I was told the owner made a post on social media regarding it.
The owner is lackadaisical in regards to her business and the outcome of her complete and utter carelessness!!
I’m disgusted this place took my money to care for my pup, and he was not only injured in their care, but he also contracted a potentially deadly virus from the overcrowded, unsanitary conditions, combined with an uneducated staff!! I was never offered a refund for the 2 days that could’ve caused my pup his life or payment for the Emergency Vet services.
Don’t make the same mistake, don’t trust these people with your dog, it could cost your...
